Hey /vr/, I am having a romantic dinner with my girlfriend tomorrow, and afterwards I would like to play a 2 player game with her that will catch her attention.

She is a huge zelda fan, and not much of a gamer outside of the adventure rpg genre (we tried FFV a while back and she seemed uninterested, but she does like skyrim).

Do you guys know any 2 player action/adventure games out there? Preferably for PSX or n64, although any help would be appreciated.

Well, then I'd recommend Gauntlet Legends.
It's easy to pick up, has progress and stuff, and it's... not quite action adventure, but what the heck.
It's a nightmare to emulate though, at least the definitive N64 version.

N64 emulation just isn't great in general, and that game is particularly bad. It's next to impossible to emulate properly, if possible at all.

The PSx version is possible to emulate, but there are many changes to it from the N64 version. I forget the specifics, but I remember this version being the worst.

Dreamcast version is most similar to the arcade version, with many of the characters of Dark Legacy. It's downfalls are you can't choose when to use items and you are unable to buy food (health) at the store, which resorts to grinding for health.

Speaking of Dark Legacy, that's pretty much the version you should try to emulate. As far as I hear it's Legends+extras. It's for GCN, PS2, and Xbox.

If Gauntlet won't run for you from N64, there is also an arcade version. There are also two Dungeons and Dragons beatem ups that emulate well and have a lot of RPG aspects.

Also if she likes pokemon, Monster Rancher on PS1, first or second one are great.

Not really 2 player, but its fun to do together anyway just to find out what every CD in the house makes for a monster.

The best 2 player Zelda style game is Secret of Mana but you have to unlock the Player 2.

I would probably play Gamecube Phantasy Star Online in 480p through the Wii on my HDTV in 4:3 mode... But that might not be an option for you.

The GCN version of Dark Legacy has a lot more bugs than Legends ever did, with a particularly irritating one that made you lose items from your inventory. I can't speak for the other platforms as I've not tried them but after spending a great many hours with the cube version I'd recommend the original Legends over DL. The only thing I really liked better about DL was how stupidly easy it was to grind massively on the Spider Queen over and over and over again.

I was gonna recommend Champions of Norrath for the ps2 as well but I'd go with the Return to Arms version. Basically the same game but more classes and such. My girlfriends not much of a gamer either and I'm working on trying to change that but I've been in that situation and she ended up loving that game so I'd definitely recommend trying it.

What kind of problems are you having OP?
Secret of Mana, but make her the main character. I tried playing this with an ex but didn't realize how long it took to get the 2nd player unlocked. It'll be a fun role reversal. A lot of girls would really enjoy having their boyfriend play the support/damsel role in a game.
