Visual Novels. You know, those mostly japanese text-heavy "games" with images and you just read and click away.

You can get more oldschool point-and-click adventure games too in case you don't have all of them already.

The most gameplay those games have are multiple choices that affect endings;

It's like reading a comic book/manga but with less image and a lot more text and multiple endings. It can be fun or not, depending on your tolerance to japanese stuff.

i wish someone came up with a hi-res mod of liero and c-dogs.

anyway, you might also want to partition your HDD to install win95. there's a few good games from 1995-1998 that only work in win95(not even win 98 due to DLLs ro something). other option is virtual machine, but that software ain't free and require a modern non-shit pc.

>> No.1338794

aesthetically, dawn of war is pretty much the most fun RTS there is

its super easy/simple though, so that's a turn off if you want actual gameplay

and of course, total annihilation and old C+Cs

depending on how bad the computer is, it will probably run TF2 which is some distance better than call of duty clones

there are literally thousands of roguelikes and tower defense games to choose from, try desktop dungeons or kingdom rush

trust me its not

just 20 year olds arguing about games that are 25 years old, and they're still dusting off turf wars from ages long forgotten

I am not exaggerating when I say that this board consists of 'listen to this youtube link,' 'remember this shitty game I played when I was 12,' and 'there is only one correct way to enjoy this ancient piece of software'

Thats it, every thread here falls into one of those three categories. The only thing that isn't complete garbage is the doom general, and that should be in /vg/

Just jump back into the frying pan: /v/ is still horrible but it least it has actual discussion and content.

of course the Doom series

Worms was always fun but I guess you know that

the early Duke Nukem games were pretty cool too

Sheltered? No. I was taught the value of hard work, earning shit, and appreciating what you get. You were taught that you just had to say "broken home" and "asperger's syndrome" to get what you wanted. Meaning you have never earned anything in your life.

Me? Job, house, and a pretty decent computer. You? White trash. Now mop my floors and maybe I'll give you a tuppence.

Well this thread went to shit.

poor guy: you can torrent the GOG versions of stuff easily, browse the site like it's a catalogue for what's available to torrent if you really don't want to buy anything. Thief 2 is a great game that will work on older computers.

rich guy: I agree with you, I've bought a handful of GOG releases that I wanted to support. It's a great site. I torrent the ones that I don't believe are worth the price though, but those are few and far between.

If they still have it in them, they're probably still making games of comparable quality regardless of demand.
If they don't have it in them anymore, why would anybody want a crappy cash-in sequel to their beloved game?

Hypothetical situation: Company I like made lots of good FPS games in the 90s. Now they make good RPGs. But I prefer FPS games. Why wouldn't I want them picking up FPS games again.
