I honestly believe that progress will never be made if anons keep posting on /vr/. This has been going on for 7 months and nothing good has ever come out of it (same can be said for all the Osamu Sato threads). Face it, Japan is the only place you'll be able to find a copy of this game (and all the "missing" Sato stuff). The search could have ended a LOT sooner if foreign message boards actually tolerated non-Japanese anons.

>> No.1340493

>>1338632
Not sure if this is progress as this is the first time I've heard of this but it looked interesting enough to do some research. Found a Japanese guy who got it and posted about it on his blog. Said only 90 were produced. If that's true I doubt you're ever gonna find one of those 90 people willing to give you a copy.

You might try finding someone at the developer who can sneak a copy off the server or something. The real package comes with some really awesome drawing from the artist. Scans of those would be nice.

But alas, the search is far from over. Perhaps one day, we can enlist the help of a Japanese individual (or two) and come closer to reaching our ultimate goal.

Something I've been thinking about lately:

OSD received its current name in July 1989. This July will mark the company's 25th anniversary. I wonder if Sato has anything planned for the occasion, like a collection of his past works (music, games, other things he worked on) that can be purchased from the site. That would be amazing.

The US producer for the game (Christopher Bankston) was contacted several months ago. Here's what he had to say:

>Regarding copies of my games: When Symmetry Entertainment was closed, we had a break in and all copies of our products were stolen (including my framed gold masters). You may wish to try and reach someone at Kinotrope in Tokyo as we co-produced Garage and Suikoden with them and they may have copies available. That actually says Garage Private Edition. The "full title" would be more like Garage - Bad Dream Adventure. The private edition is a special version with a bunch of extra art and shit.

Has anyone attempted to contact the uploader of the walkthrough? Here is a link to one video from nicovideo dot com...

I don't speak Japanese, but I was going to make a series of pictures to try to communicate that we'd like to play Garage. Although if anyone knows Japanese and can type up a message that would be better...

I tried doing the same thing when I made that table with all the missing stuff, and it ended up being a waste of effort.
All we can do is wait for someone to visit this board and announce that they have a copy.

What is a good filesharing site that a person in Japan and might only speak Japanese should be able to use easily?

>> No.1356263

At least there weren't too many perverted posts in that thread a few days ago. I honestly think that /v/ is more interested in these games than /vr/ based on how many posts the thread received in such a short time.

No idea, but copyright laws in Japan are more strict than in other parts of the world. That may be why we haven't seen ISOs of Garage or the Roly Poly games yet.

Ah, well then maybe it would be rude to ask for him to upload it.

At any rate, I made this, pic related. The anime face with the Japanese letters under it are the walkthrough-uploader's icon and username. Does the message come across? Any suggestions?

>> No.1356286

I think you should add something that communicates about how the game is pretty much impossible to find. The uploader may just take that image as a bunch of people wanting to download it for free, not having a ridiculously hard time to find the game even for purchase and they really want to check it out.

>> No.1356298

>>1356280
I honestly don't think the uploader would be able to take the message seriously. When the search for Chu Teng was going on, some anons posted a message (translated in Japanese) on 2ch that addressed the issue, and people didn't seem offended in the slightest. I don't see anything wrong with sending a written message.

Add some pictures showing some buy sites or whatever and how they're all sold out or for selling copies rather than buying.

If you need text, give a few basic lines and I'll try and see what I can do.

>> No.1356332

>>1356301
Well if you know the Japanese equivalent of "sold out" or "out of stock" and a word that means "very rare," that would help.

But here is a message that I think is simple enough:

>Thank you for sharing Garage video.
>Many people would like to play Garage.
>All stores are out of stock. Garage is very rare.
>Can you upload Garage files to a file sharing website please?

>> No.1356339

>>1356332
Actually add to the second like so its:
>Many people would like to play Garage because it appears creative and unique.
To explain why we want to play it, like we have an interest in it besides it being just some rare vidya.

I think making posts on /v/ it's a good way to get people interessed, and we can redirect them to here, most of the retards don't come here anyways, and I only found about this game because the thread was made there

>I think making posts on /v/ it's a good way to get people interessed,

Just be careful when you do this. At first you will get people interested but once you start making threads long enough there will be a group of retards being more vocal than the people interested in the actual game shitting on the threads. I would make a thread like once or twice a month about it to avoid that.

>> No.1356468

This is true, but I would make a thread at least twice a month, and in diferent times

I think there'd be no problem with it, /v/ isn't as bad as you say, not anymore at least. There are some high points of shitposting but they are usually contained in specific threads. It'll be fine.

>> No.1356593

>>1356574
yeah, I had some great threads at night, the problem is when you make a thread at afternoon most of times it turns into shit, but when is something as good as this thread it attracts some "good people"

Hey, so the other day on nicovideo I thought I favorited the user who uploaded the walkthrough. But today I logged in and its not listed under favorite users. I tried looking on the video but can't find his icon/username to click... Maybe he made his account private because I favorited him? Can anyone else find it?

His icon and username are in the pic I made here: >>1356280

Both Peter Gabriel games, as well as a huge collection of adventure games, can be found on a site called adventure legends. (Garage and some other games mentioned on this thread are listed as "wanted.")

Thanks for recommending such a great site, I'm actually finding some stuff there I couldn't find before! Even Zeddas (I'm the uploader before) is there. Though the Japanese-only sequels I'm looking for are obviously not there. I'm starting to doubt whether they've been ripped at all.

As for the message, I'm not quite so sure about asking for them to upload it. It might be better to ask for a place that you can download it from or buy it from.

By the way, I did a search for the game and got quite a bit of results. The only problem is I don't have too much experience with Nico yet to figure out how to access the uploader's profile page and PM them.
