Post games that feature the power of rock.

There was this great period right when games got CD audio and some would feature full blown rock scores. Long guitar solos, synthesizers. I love this style of rock. Example of what I mean:

Battlecruiser Millennium: Menu theme
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBSJKB8nMPY

Before that there were some great rock scores using synthesizers that mimicked real instruments.

Despite being a movie license game, that's actually a really good run and gun game. The graphics and gameplay are also good. Though maybe not as good as the music. That's actually one of the best games on the Sega CD. Especially in its genre.

Rock arrangements also count.

"Naoto Shibata Project" released several albums in the 90's of Konami music. Naoto Shibata arranged them but he only played bass on them. The first was their rock arrangements of several space shooting games, such as Gradius.

World Driver Championship was shit on for many stupid reasons. People were comparing it to Gran Turismo. They complained of the lack of licensed cars, eventhough that costs money and is prohibitive to all but the biggest game franchises AND adds little to the game. And the music wasn't CD Audio. It was pretty good though. I consider it a hidden gem, and much better than GT.

Also yes, you're right and I completely agree with you. I know 99% of people think otherwise but to me properly done FM beats samples (as in, SNES' N64's, etc) any day of the year.

(minus perhaps orchestral music, as it must have been atrociously hard to make pretty sounding strings and winds)

This is the closest that I've heard to trumpets on Genesis: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hyx5KxKw-sI (around halfway through the loop).
Pretty dang convincing. Iwadare was an FM master back in the day.

Anyway, I think I'm derailing the thread.
