Didn't feel like starting a new thread, but I picked up a TurboGrafx the other day and have no games. Anything I should look for in particular?

I didn't know anyone who owned a NES. It was all about this beauty. Yet there is normally an uneven ratio of NES to SMS threads on /vr/.

Super Star Soldier

Any of arcade port. These were some of the best ports at the time.

And a CD to play the really cool shit.

did you grow up in Europe?
Had that same model.
Nearly shit myself when I turned on the console without putting a cartridge in and Alex Kidd popped up. One of my favorite games of all time. Sold my copy of Buggy Run for 100 bucks a while ago. Sort of bummed about it but I was out of work at the time and didnt know how long that would last for.

You're european, right? The SMS was also massively popular in Brazil, partially due to the fact Nintendo never had an official representative until 1993, so people had to do with Famiclones.

There was this company called Tec Toy that made crazy things like a SMS ports of Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat,Game Gear to SMS conversions, and rebranded games with comic characters

Yeah, UK. It could be unconscious bias, but when I compare the SMS with NES, the NES seems objectively worse in pretty much all ways. Graphics, sound, and the console itself looks like shit.

Mine had Sonic the Hedhehog built in, which I personally preferred over Alex Kidd which all my friends had. Other great games include Wonder Boy 3, Batman Returns, Castle of Illusion, Land of Illusion, Lucky Dime Caper, and Chuck Rock 2.

Backwards compatability of the gameboy and lack of good launch titles. I was gonna buy one at one time but decided against it because I could just buy more gameboy games instead.

Lack of 3rd party support, tried to compete with the gameboy at the height of pokemania.

I liked the Sonic games on the SMS a bit better. They were a bit more traditional platformers that didnt focus too much on the speed aspect. Very comfy to play. I remember borrowing MKII from a friend and being pretty impressed at how smooth it was for the time. SMS had a lot of power to it, shame it didnt have the greatest of libraries.

hard to beat blazing lazers (especially considering it was a launch title)

that being said the cd and super cd games are amazing.

shame i bought a model 1 instead of a turbo duo as that super system card is damn expensive, practically more than the system + cd attachment.

>> No.1328562

>>1327586
I love my turbo grafx and my duo. I got it when it came out, so it holds a special place in my heart. That being said, it's library is nowhere close to the snes or genny. It might be a bit overrated, people always tell others who have never played one how they missed out, but it's really only great if you had it when you were a kid. I feel guilty for speaking ill of it, but it's the truth.
