I'd be interested in watching a stream, provided you actually commentate/talk with the spectators while doing it (lord knows I've seen enough gameplay videos by themselves to sit through another one).

I haven't actually played DKCR, so I can't comment on it. I do think DKC2 is wildly overrated, though. I'd probably rank the series as: 1 > 2 > 3, getting progressively worse as time goes on. Of course they're all great games.

Yeah I was planning on just playing the games, chilling out and chatting with people about what is probably my favourite game series.

Also if you have a PC that can run dolphin I heavily recommend trying out DKCR, it's a great game and playing it on dolphin gets rid of what was the main complaint about it (the waggle), though I never really had a problem with it.

DKC1 set the groundwork for the sequels, and it should be remembered, but it had unpolished animations, DK's special ability was fucking annoying, bonus stages sucked, and the sequels outmatched it in almost every aspect (except for Diddy Kong)

at least the music was already fucking great and fucking Cranky Kong

I love all of them, but R's gameplay feels too "modern" for me to enjoy it as much as the original trilogy. Still, it's easily one of my favorite Wii games, if not, my favorite.

It is likely just my nostalgia talking, but I did play 3 the most back then out of the trilogy and had a lot of fond memories of the game. Of course I love the entire series quite a bit, with 3 being my favorite by a small margin.

DKCR would have been good if Kremlings were in it. I don't give a shit about the ultra kiddie enemies in the new game.

DKC3 is the best of the original trilogy.

2 was great because it was challenging. 1 is memorable because of the nastalgia factor and being the beginning of something important. 3 had more collectables and made for a longer more bang for your buck deal.

I loved DKCR, but my friend who is more passionate about DKC games said things like..
-waggle, obviously
-the physics aren't as good, too stiff
-rolling into enemies isn't quite as good
-generic 3D look
-lackluster music
-there's a whole world dedicated to those stupid minecart levels

Although I prefer playing DKCR over the original DKC games for a simple reason of camera. I can hardly see ahead of me in the DKC games and it's hard to react to what the level throws at me sometimes.

Returns is much harder than the original trilogy (which werent particularly hard games).
It is the least casual mainstream platformer of the last years, and it doesn't play like the original trilogy.

It also plays quite differently from the original trilogy. It looks like Retro does not want to be seen as "the new Rare", that is one of the reason for no Kremlings.

No Kremlings and K.Rool are in DK Barrel Blast, which is a Nintendo developed game from 2007. Retro just said they didn't want to ride the coat tail of Rare's design so they went with their own enemy designs.

It's making me consider buying a Wii U, but I'm having trouble justifying it considering how much the physics and controls disappointed me in DKCR and haven't heard any word on changes in those areas. The characters feel so heavy compared to the old trilogy, movement kind of floaty and the roll completely off.

DKC 3 ~ DKC 2 > DKC 1

KCR tries too hard to be cool, and using one of the fat apes as main character when the precious games always had the slim, fast ones as most enjoyable characters was a poor choice. Bossfights were a step back to DKC, too - DKC 2 and especially 3 had bossfights consisting of more than 'Jump on his head, lol'.

DKC2 is my favorite. Although I remember being vastly hyped for Krazy Kremland because a run-down amusement park with Rare's background graphics would've been beautiful, then I was crushed when there were only 2 theme park levels and the rest were Forests and Zinger Hives. Especially because I hate Zingers, I have to mute the game because of their buzzing.
