Wow, still missing an upgrade or 2 and X is already OP as fuck in this game
>that plasma shot upgrade
>that unlimited weapon usage
>that Soul Body (split mushroom) weapon

Zero is still objectively the right way to play in any game he's in

I got a boner playing this game when I was 8 it was the first time it happened so I asked my dad why my wiener was getting big and he told me it happens when people get excited and then he asked me if it was an exciting part of the game.
No i was just gay for fem robots in pantsu

Agreed. I still regularly play it. I still do stupid challenges like

>Beat Slash Beat using only Lightning Web
>Beat Split Mushroom using only Double Cyclone
>Make sure every kill shot is with a charged Soul Body

It's good stuff

X4's my favorite, but X1 definitely comes in right behind it.

I'm not sure what is wrong with you guys, but I remember this game kind of sucking balls.

X2 was great because it fixed X's lack of movement abilities, and X3 improved it even more. 4 just seemed like nothing new.

I liked 5 a lot, mainly because playing with Zero was insanely badass. His sword abilities were incredibly swift and accurate, and his ability to zip around the room made up for his lack of a proper Buster.

Then 6 sucked because Zero wasn't fun any more, and it was a pain in the ass to not have long range shots.

>> No.1302712

I really enjoyed the level design of 6 and the bosses were pretty interesting.

That being said, 4 was impossible to top.

X3 was horrible. The only worthwhile upgrade is the jump. The buster upgrade is absolutely useless. The chips barely make any difference. The ride armors are situational at best. The enemies are a lot stronger than the previous games. Also the bosses are pretty forgettable.

You've got them the other way around.

Zero is slow, laggy and heavy in X5, while he's an unstoppable fucking beast in X6 even without any parts or weapons. Zero's buster in X5 is literally useless but in X6 it's a valuable asset.

Zero as an actually playable character was new and a big improvement, dude.
Also, being able to use the X-Buster at the same time as the special weapons added fluidity since there's less reasons to stop to open the menu or cycle through weapons.

X3 is pretty much the only X game besides X5 that could really benefit from a rom hack. Not only to clean out all of those useless items, but to do something more interesting with the level design. Having an air dash felt so pointless in this game. X2 had that one zigzagged spike bed for the Shoryuken capsule and a few longer pits with that ability in mind, why couldn't we see more like that with regards to the vertical air dash as well in X3? Such a frustrating waste of potential...

>> No.1303049

>>1303047
X6 could really use a small ROM hack, too.

Edit some of the controls so they don't get in the way, fix the Nightmare Zero at Level 4 bug, make it so reploids respawn outside of Xtreme mode...

i actually just got X2. is it harder than X1?

no, I didn't necessarily think X1 was difficult, but the last boss admittedly did give me some problems. especially since it didn't refill your health between stages and you had no recovery time.

X2 is a bit easier, IMO. If you did beat X, you shouldn't have a problem with X2.

>> No.1303318

yeah i did. I was up late into the night, constantly trying, then refilling my subtanks which took about 15 minutes to do every time I died, so, I went to bed and continued the next day (left the SNES on). came back to it, a few more tries later and I beat him. The sleep probably helped too. As with all mega man games, yes, my first time playing through was rough, but after playing through it once, you get down the stages pretty well, and that's what makes the games "easy" for later playthroughs. I really enjoyed it though. I made sure to get all the upgrades, except the hadouken, because fuck that.

That's why you only use a subtank if you get past his first form.

Abusing electric spark makes things easier if you have too much trouble.

I hope you were using rolling shield to fill up your tanks, and not shooting all of the bugs.

I want to put a good word in for X3 though. Although the execution was spotty, he developers basically gave the fans everything they wanted.

You like upgrades? Now you can upgrade your upgrades with enhancements!
You like air-dashing? Now you can air-dash twice!
You don't like farming for E-tank health? Go grab a sandwich, the head enhancement has your covered
You don't like holding A to charge? Hyper Charge just fires charged shots!
You don't like being forced to choose enhancements? You can get all of the with the gold armor!
You like Zero? You get to play as Zero!
You like Vile? You can fight Vile again!
You like ride armors? Now you can have 4 different ride armors!
You like overpowered secret weapons? You can do use zero's saber (wow!), and you don't even need full health or input any funny button combination to use it! Just charge your buster and Boom!

Such a love letter to the fans.

Nah, you're wrong. I remember going into X6 with the desire to use Zero and it being a downgrade.

In X5 I never needed to use the buster. The sword's slashes in X6 just make it more of a pain. Does he even have the spinning slash in X6?

There's also the spinning slash on the ground.

>In X5 I never needed to use the buster

You don't need to use the buster in X6 either, but if you choose to, it will prove to be quite versatile and effective in quite a few situations.

Unlike the useless trash that is Zero's buster in X5.

>The sword's slashes in X6 just make it more of a pain

X6's combos make for the best Zero out of any X game. They're the fastest, most powerful, have great range, hit multiple times, can be cancelled at pretty much any point.

Zero is a beast in X6. He's fairly agile and powerful on his own and with enough parts and weapons he becomes game breaking.

>Does he even have the spinning slash in X6
>didn't even play the game for longer than 10 minutes

In X6, Zero uses the spinning slash if you attack after a double jump.

The spinning slash has always sucked. The "regular" jump slash is superior in X4, X5 and X6 because of its high speed. I always saved Split Mushroom for last because the technique you get replaces the regular jump slash.

It's even better in X6 because it's quite powerful and hits multiple times. It's particularly ridiculous with guard shell. It can kill the final boss with 1-2 hits.

>>1303403
>spinning slash on the ground

You can also use that in the air, albeit only once.

>>1303469
So? Why's that a problem?

>> No.1303519

>In X6, Zero uses the spinning slash if you attack after a double jump.
That sucks, a lot.

>The spinning slash has always sucked. The "regular" jump slash is superior in X4, X5 and X6 because of its high speed
So having to face the enemy while you enact the slash move is better then being able to move away from the enemy while hitting them?

>> No.1303592

>>1303519
The third slash can reach enemies directly in front of and above you.

I don't remember a single situation where the difference in the third slash's hitbox would have mattered.

>>1303529
>That sucks, a lot

That's the best of both worlds; you can control whether you want a normal slash or a spinning slash.

I honestly think there should be no spinning slash at all.

>having to face the enemy

Given that you'll probably be dash jumping right into the enemy most of the time, yeah, it's better. You'll kill the enemy and land next to where it previously was. Even in X4, the regular jumping slash was one of the best attacks Zero had.

You still retain full air control while attacking, so you can stop just before you hit the enemy while the saber scores extra hits. If you didn't dash jump, you can also initiate a double jump in order to do a spinning slash.

The only way it could get better was if you could hold down to keep the saber out until you landed, just like in mega man zero.

>being able to move away from the enemy while hitting them

I don't see the significance of the spinning slash when it comes to this technique. The enemy will most likely be dead before you land, and if it's a boss you can simply dash jump at it, attack, turn back and land in the exact same spot you were earlier. The amount of air control you have in all X games is quite absurd; there's no reason the slash has to hit behind you in order for you to actually be able to hit behind you.

X6 even makes it easy to attack from all sides on the ground with Zero. If you attack and press the opposite direction, you cancel the current slash and continue the combo facing the other side. Sometimes I feel like I'm Guy in Final Fight 3

>> No.1303637

X4 is really easy no matter who you're playing as, but easy =/= bad.

You can control it just the same by doing a vertical-style jump to avoid spinning.

Wait, you couldn't double jump with a dash-jump? Wow, that is shitty.
