A friend suggested this little gem to me, and sweet cowboy Jesus... this game is fucking great! What does /vr/ think?

Never played/heard of it. What platform?

>> No.1289408

This is one of my favorite SNES platformers. It's a shame it gets almost zero love.

It's awesome. Once the controller adapter I ordered for my wii arrives I'm replaying the shit out of it.

Thanks, it's not in my collection of SNES roms, I'll find one and give it a go

Fuck, this game is expensive.

>> No.1289482

It makes me remember of another sufami game that involves a girl with some kind of fishing pole grappling around a minimalistic stage. It was more of a puzzle game and I am pretty sure it received a 3DS intallment recently.

I know someone must know what I am talking about here.

>> No.1289490

Well this seems pretty fun, I got a Game Over on the first level though

Yeah, that's Umihara Kawase. It's totally different in terms of mechanics but has a similarly laid back feel to it.

>> No.1289502

>>1289486
Yes. That is the name. It made me remember exactly because it had the same kind of "japanesecuteplatformer" feeling.

>> No.1289538

Heaven't heard about it until now, but decided to give it a try.

Jesus christ it's so fucking cute

Sadly, people tend to stick to the same dozen or so games when talking about the snes. I see it mentioned every now and then but it's usually burried under a bunch of jrpg recommendations.

>> No.1289558

Try different things with her. Wait on the Game Over screen, move close to an edge, hold Down for a few seconds, walk into walls (Rare litmus test passed), fall from a height, she's got delightful animations. Also check Omake voice #00

>>1289490
You really are pleb if you game over on the first stage. It's a very easy game.

I'm on the second level now and I've got to say I really like the level design of this game, it looks completely different to the first level and all the enemies are new too

Kind of sad how the actress who voiced the character died of cancer.

I love this one

Even ignoring the fact that the gameplay is solid and the level design great, this game deserves recognition for what is some of the best sprite animation ever, especially for it's era. It encapsulates everything good about Japanese animation.

This game looks pretty dope. I'll give it a shot when I come back from work tonight.

MP is a little too long for my taste. After spending an hour to get to the final boss I'd have been pretty devastated to get a game over and have to start all over. But luckily I beat it so it's done with. Unless I am remembering completely wrong there were no passwords. It should have had passwords.

Yeah, that's one of the (few) things I don't like about this game. The timing of the grapple can be finicky.

I just got back from work. Fuck working at Macy's. It's my second day on the job, and wow, it is a fucking nuthouse in there. It's my first job, and I just want to get a couple of months in this job so I'll have some actual work experience (IE not unpaid internships) to put on my resume so I can work at the local comic book store.

Calm your tits. Comfy is a word that has long predated tumblr.

>>1289368

Alright I'm downloading the Aeon Genesis translation now. Let's see how this goes. If it's anything like Super Mario World or Kirby, I'll enjoy it.

It's got a lot of graphical polish but the mechanics really could have used a once over. That slight delay before every jump, slow grappling hook extension, miniscule attack range--there's a lot of unpleasantness there.

That's the only thing that bugs me, but it's an awesome game, nonetheless.

if you guys love this game then I think you might all be interested in some other great japanese SNES gems.
check out hamelin no violin tamaki there is an english patch for it.
and
milon no dokidoki daibouken also has an english patched version. tip for this one if you hold down the attack button he'll puff up and release a 180 bubble attack. you'll need to use it here and there to beat some of the stages.

>> No.1294349

Started playing this a while ago and I've gotta say, its pretty fun. Surprised with the amount of branching paths and attacking options, though its a bit on the easy side.

Then again I just got to stage 5 so maybe it'll get harder.

>> No.1294436

Scratch that, just beat it. Still pretty easy but I really enjoyed it.
