Since SC2G isn't helpful, I'm trying to find certain UMS maps I played on Starcraft Broodwar

I played only UMS maps on Broodwar, and I've been trying to track them down again in hopes to maybe recreate them or find the creators and encourage them to recreate them in SC2.

It's only two maps I'm really looking for, and should be easily found since if I recall from memory they were quite popular. There is this one series of maps, involving Zombies. It was really two maps that I can remember, the first one involved an outbreak on a ship and these maps were very difficult. You couldn't play by yourself or you would lose. Plus the creator made a mechanic that you would lose if it wasn't 2+ players. The zerg were using those custom colors you would get from mods for the map editor, and all had certain code names, mainly just bunch of numbers and such. There was a secret on the first map that if you go into a corner you could select one of the creatures as a playable creator but as a stronger version. The second map of that series, I think your leader turned into a zombie or something and the ship had crashed. The nearby town was infected and you had to go through it.

The second series of maps, it was a really unique game style where it was sort of just normal. You were playing one unit, while your base was actively building and preparing armies to send out. Like an AI vs AI. Except your guys were trying to stop this power hungry Archon unit. His name was usually part of the title, and you always had to kill him. there were many maps involving him being resurrected.

I've looked through websites having all the UMS maps, but I can't remember the title which is giving me the most trouble. I don't remember the map layouts that much either, except what setting it was. Like Twilight , and that's all I can recall.

tl;dr help

I loved custom maps in Brood War. I still have a huge downloaded maps folder saved away from years ago. Is the map you're thinking about an RPG style map with "leveling up" and different classes?

I believe so

Was it those Crash RPG maps? Where the middle of the map heals you and the computer builds up units and attacks periodically? They were on the twilight tileset if I remember right.

I believe it was! Thank you.

Now I just need to remember the zombie one. The mutants / zombies were weirdly named, with numbers and codenames. It was really difficult.

Do you remember the tileset for that? Chances are it was badlands or jungle.

One was badlands, and the other was in... Interior ship I think?

>> No.1289071

Actually, Badlands and platform. It had a lot of decals going on in the maps as well. That's all I can really remember.

Do you remember if it had a makeshift spell/ability system, like moving a selection unit to beacons in the corner of the map?

>> No.1289518

I believe it did have that for which class you wanted to play. Same goes for the secrets for getting one of the monsters.

And if I remember correctly, you could play as Ghost, Marine, and Firebat.

In the secret area where you could select one of the monsters you could pick either Hydra or Zergling. The first area has you going down a hall with the 'zombies' rushing at you, I think.

In Survival>Zombie maybe?

>> No.1289754 [DELETED]

>>1289751
I don't think so, it was more survival based.

I don't think so, this was more story based. One of the characters who becomes infected in the sequel were in that Mech/Walker unit.

Bumping, just to see if anyone else can help.

Well if it's not in that section it's most definitely somewhere else. The guy who made this collection was obsessed with good UMS and did some pretty amazing shit himself. It's a bit of a needle in a haystack but if it's not a shit tier game, it's in there.

It's hard to tell, since I can't remember the name at all. I thought maybe it was "Zombie ____" or something of the sort, but apparently not. Unless it's not under RPG, then I'm not sure what it would fall under as a co-op story game.

sc2g is just constant ramblings of korean women and players. Thats it. Nothing SC related.

Second of all, I'm asking for details about classic UMS maps that were on Starcraft 1, not 2.

4/10 making me reply.

it wasnt bait
a lot of people will not help you if you call them sc2g, perhaps even feed you wrong information
just ask your fucking question there and maybe you'll get a response

also someone apparently linked a bw ums archive
if thats what you got thats the most we could/wanted to do

Even though I had asked sc2g, and they continued to discuss an Asian woman with uneven eyes it's still no help.

But you're right, god forbid I try asking a retro subsection about a broodwar map to see if they remember a title of a map that I could perhaps find and check out.

Good day, sir.
