If Diablo II is allowed, so is Deus Ex which came out 3 days before.

If Deus Ex is allowed, so is Daikatana.
Do you really wanna live in this world?

>> No.1269241

personally i think the rules are bullshit atm and that all 6th gen should be allowed but you aren't doing yourself any favours by just starting a thread saying "this should be allowed".

if you have something you want to discuss, just discuss it, but these meta-threads are regressive and pointless.

He's not. He's saying the Janitors/Mods are allowing, therefore it is allowed. There's a D2 thread that's been up for for a week and a Baldur's Gate 2 thread for a couple of days. So really at this point. No mods, anything goes apparently.

Not like anyone's going to get rid of the Deus Ex thread so this is going to happen.

I'd also disagree that not allowing modern gaming/6th gen and up in a retro board is bullshit. It's older but it ain't retro.

I've nothing against Deus Ex, but that's some pathetically childish logic, OP.

PC games from 2000 often slip under the radar since we talk about G5 games from 2000+

The rule, to be consistent, probably should include PC games released for Windows 98 but not those released for ME however that is a very difficult thing to conclusively establish on a game-by-game basis.

What isn't allowed are meta-threads disguised as threads about a particular game. Unlike the Diablo 2 thread, I see absolutely no discussion about Deus Ex in this thread therefore I expect it will soon be deleted.

I never played Deus Ex (because no console port) but I did play Invisible War all the way through and had a good time as a sniper with some hacking ability. It might have had to do with the fact that I let my friend create the character and we played just enough together for me not to want to start over so I was a black chick.

How does the original stack up to Invisible War?

What are the recommendations for getting Deus Ex to run on a modern machine? I hear bad things about GoG's version, but vanilla is notorious for compatibility issues, does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Furthermore, does anyone play it as an actual FPS instead of a sneaking game? Are there benefits to doing it that way?

Invisible War is ok.

Thing is, the PC version isn't even a proper PC version. It's a port; the game has to load EVERYTIME you go into a different section of a map (like a console port).

>I knocked out Simons
In the oceanlab I once lured Simons out of the lab into the open the water and then (using a rebreather) waited for him to drown. Took about 10 minutes of him hiccuping while the combat music played. Deus Ex is great for messing around.

>>1277923
This. In the oceanlab you can just run past him without even talking to him, and in Area 51 you can skip the conversation with him completely.
