With Basilisk II, it seems like the only way to win the boss fight is to cheat. Try using L Spiro's Memory Hacking Software to slow down the emulator. If you set the speed to something like 1/4 or 1/2, then the boss fight should be a bit easier.

Okay, here's what I have. Feel free to edit it if you want:

Hello 2ch,

We are from the retro games board on 4chan. We're interested in Osamu Sato's work and want to know if anyone here has something that he's made. If you do, please be sure to include pictures.

Should I specify which items we're looking for, and ask if anyone could upload scan or rips?

>> No.1274472

>>1274436
This is probably improper Japanese but they would understand this:

>こんにちは、2ch
>私は4ちゃんから来た。/vr/(レトローゲームのボード)は佐藤理のゲームや音楽に興味が有って、誰かが佐藤さんの品物が有るかどうか知ってほしいんだ。もし有れば、写真を見せてください。

Very literal translation of the above:
>Good day, 2ch
>I've come from 4chan. /vr/ (the retro games board) has an interest in Osamu Sato's games and music and would like to know if anyone has Sato-san's products. If you have [any], please show a picture.

>Should I specify which items we're looking for, and ask if anyone could upload scan or rips?
Probably. As of now that would be a really, really open-ended post. Probably would be best to state a specific objective we wish to accomplish, such as finding a specific item in mind.

>> No.1274545

>>1274472
Alright, how's this:

This is what we are looking for:
『The Esoteric Retina-秘密の網膜-』
『Alphabetical Animals』
『Compu Movie』VHS
『ローリーポーリーズの七転び八起き』
『ローリーポーリーズの世界旅行』
『リズムンフェイス副読本』
『The Alphabet』

He also made a music cassette in the 1980s, but the only information I could find was in his bio on his old website:
"Studied design at Kyoto Technical Textiles University and photography at
Saga Junior College of Arts. Taught himself the synthesizer and released
his first musical work-a music cassette including an original silk screen
print and package of his own design- for an independent label."

If you have anything listed above, scans and rips would be great.

This might be too much information, but I think the description of the cassette could be useful. Also, Alphabetical Animals, Compu Movie, and The Alphabet don't seem to have Japanese titles.

There are more pictures of the book on OSD's current website. I did find a site that has a listing for the book, but unfortunately it's out of stock.

Also, while the book is pretty interesting, I think it would be better to focus on the Roly Poly games or Esoteric Retina CD first, and then ask about the other stuff later. I get the feeling that someone on 2ch would be more likely to have these things than any of Sato's other work.

Even in the retail game the japanese text is unaligned and has some bogus code to put in new japanese text, It really feels like a homebrew game made for a real incircle. I dunno which, I'd say give it a shot on one, and if nothing, then try the other.

I figured that your knowledge of Japanese would be essential for posting on 2chan, since you'd probably be better able to answer any questions people might have. Unfortunately I don't know much about 2chan myself, but I read somewhere that you have to use an anonymous proxy if you live outside Japan and want to post on the site. I have no idea how this works, perhaps we should request the help of an anon who has experience with this stuff.

In other news, check this out:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/ol/4766107365/ref=mw_dp_olp?qid=1387427217&sr=8-1

There were 9 offers available just a few days ago. I guess most of them were scams. Hopefully the copy I ordered is coming from a legit seller, otherwise I just threw away $120.

>> No.1283595

So uh, anyone want to try and get that message posted on 2chan? There has to be someone here who knows how to use the site. Or is it impossible to post there if you live outside of Japan?

Welp, final arrangements now translation.
>handful of photoshops being handed to a guru
>aligning text in game, easy and stimulating
>refined cleaner points in the middle heaven tablet, for the sake of it, been sent to a few people for opinions
>handful of japanese to further translate

Will be putting on youtube after all, since others will, may as well claim it like a boss.

Thanks to those who helped, and the troll level was suprisingly low for 4chans standards

The library copy of Computer Designing that I requested not too long ago arrived. The disk isn't included, but it's still pretty neat. It'll hold me over until the copy I bought on Amazon comes in.

Sorry to bring this up again, but since 2ch and Futaba don't allow posts from outsiders, are there any other Japanese sites where that message could be posted?

I realize that it's possible to view posts without any problems, but actually posting on the site seems to be a different story:

http://www.animenation.net/forums/showthread.php?t=216487

Not sure how reliable this is since it's from 2008, but it looks like a difficult process. Is there an easier way to go about this, or are there no other options?

I know I've been reluctant to post that message, but I think I should at least TRY to post it rather than complain about how it's "impossible."
Which board should I post the message on? I would try retro games, but Sato's work is spread out across many forms of entertainment, so I'm really not sure what to do.

>> No.1286978

Posting normally doesn't seem to work. Supposedly a proxy server can be used to bypass this, but it's illegal in most cases. I'm not wanting to take any risks, so I won't post the message. Sorry guys.

I don't think I have a reason to be posting here anymore. My goal was to provide useful information on Osamu Sato's work and take part in the search for his lesser known products, but I've only managed to make a fool of myself and fill these threads with retarded nonsense. I don't want this to continue, so I'll make this my last post and leave you guys alone. I'm sorry for causing so much trouble.

I was frustrated that posting on 2ch wasn't as easy as I imagined. Apparently you have to set up a Japanese VPN connection to make a post, which probably isn't legal. I've never done it before and don't want to risk getting in trouble with my ISP, so I'm not going to do it. If anyone here wants to give it a shot, go right ahead. Who knows, we might actually find someone who has the stuff we're looking for!

Admittedly, that post I made a couple of days ago was stupid. Sorry about that.

Noob.
What board on 2ch would be best?

>> No.1289965

>>1289929
Probably their retro games board. More people are aware of Sato's games than anything else he's made, so we'd be more likely to get responses if the message was posted on that board.
It could also be posted on Futaba's games board, along with the translated table. An anon posted there when the search for Chu Teng was still on, and people replied to his post.

Thanks anon.

I wonder how the holidays are going to affect board activity over there. I imagine more people are concerned with Christmas preparations than posting on a message board.

Couple month ago, friends on our justice board of good solicit legendary, secretly lost game called "Chu-Teng", developed by Sato-san who did LSD and Eastern Mind. Nobody had seen an copy in long time, and it was presumed to be thrown. Then some random-ass anon had it in house, and decided to upload until later

Fast forward few month, and a translation of the game is coming and it is accessible on the computer. Now friends on this board are trying to replicate this success with other Osamu Sato stuff that has made any appearance. Unfortunately, evil steals on. And now our valiant efforts are taking a toll -

They have 4 from what I can tell: Retro Games, Retro Console Games, Retro 32-bit Console Games, and Retro Arcade Games. Meanwhile, Futaba has a single Games board where retro and modern are discussed.

Slightly off topic, but I wonder if Munckeyz ever got his copy of Tong Nou for Windows. He said he'd upload scans if he could get his hands on a scanner.

Well that seems a little excessive
