I have two different battlestations. One is a 240p-480i CRT, hooked up to it is my NES, SNES, and PS1. All are outputting RGB. The other is my HDTV, hooked up to it is my PS2 and Wii. Both are outputting 480p Component.

I have recently acquired a Dreamcast, what the hell am I supposed to do with it? It's like a 5.5 generation console, I have no idea which it would look better on or what to do with it.

You will get the best signal with a VGA-box, so use it with your HDTV.

also is every ps2 game playable in 480p?

My two battlestations are divided between SD and HD.

Why don't you just try both and pick the one with the better result? Is that too hard a concept to grasp?

No, but there are several. It just seemed like a better idea to put it in 480p by default. I suppose there is a way to use both RGB and Component cables with it and switch when using different games that support it, but I have no idea how I'd go about doing it.

No. Most are 480i, which looks bad even on a CRT.

They will all be playable with your cables, but they aren't all 480 pixels high internally. The actual resolution varies from game to game and sometimes even between different segments of the same game.

As for OP, a VGA box and a CRT computer monitor would be the best of both worlds.

Put it on a CRT monitor with VGA. Then take your PS2 and Wii and do the same because they will look instantly better for it.

You'll have to explain your reasoning.

You can use a homebrew called GS Mode Selector to force 480p on some games or 1080i on others

This, except leave the Wii on the HDTV since as long as it's on component, it won't look horrid. PS2 will look horrid on an HDTV whether it's composite or component. Along with the N64 and Genesis, it's among the absolute worst-looking on HDTV.

Gamecube games still look horrid on HDTV though.
