One of the best controlling games I've ever played. Just the right amount of challenge, too.

SkyBlazer was the shit as well. Had a good bit of depth that was lacking in beat-em-ups of that era. Almost had an ActRaiser vibe to it.

>> No.1260327

Not tooting my horn here, but I as well noticed this a few years back, started spamming Skyblazer in every SNES thread and now more people are bringing it up. Probably a coincidence, but I will go out of my way to talk this game up any chance I get! One of my favorites..

Game Grumps did a series on this. It seemed like an amazing game. The monster designs were great.

I'm glad to see both Skyblazer and Little Samson already mentioned and I have seen (Mr.)Gimmick constantly being mentioned on /vr/ but how come no one ever talks about Ufouria/Hebereke? It's a good metroidvania type game with a bizarre silly as fuck world.

Also the "Konami Mega Man" Bucky O' Hare seems to be a game people either haven't played or never mentions for some reason.

Pic related is my shit. I found it at a shop last year and bought it just because it was a HAL game. It plays like ninja gaiden crossed with darkwing duck

It is a pretty good game. It bothers me, though, that it seems to want to include some exploration and secret-finding elements what with the acquisition of new powers and maneuvers and a friggin' overworld map, but it's actually extremely linear. The map just makes this all the more glaring.

Also, there's one really lame boss that really deflates all the challenge and excitement of getting to said boss. You watched the GG series, you know which one I'm talking about.

Other than that, it's a pretty solid game.

Tales of Destiny

It seems nobody else in the universe has ever played it. The random battles take a little long, and there's also a very high random encounter rate, but it's a great game with excellent music and loads of sidequests.

I rented Bucky O'Hare when I was a kid. It was one of the few games I was better at then my older brother (the other was Phantom 2040 on the SNES), and I had a blast with it.

The Happy Video Game Nerd (I think) did a great review on it.

I've kinda been waiting for the PS2 remake to be translated, rather than play this one. Is it about as good as the PSX version of Phantasia, do you know? Because if so, I might go ahead and try it.

I haven't seen a thread on this one. This game is not for the faint of heart however. If your up for a challenge though, you'll love it.

on the occasion that an actual Tales thread appears on /v/ you should check it out. Most people in them support Tales of Destiny as the best game in the series

One of my favourite games, but there isn't much to talk about when the franchise exists of one great game with no glaring problems.

If it had some sequels we could have threads about how Landstalker 2 was shit. If the PSP remake came out we could talk about how it ruined the game.

Conquest of the Crystal Palace, a great action adventure game for the NES that never comes up in convo, has a fantasy Asian look and feel to it. Great store system, too.

The cave level was freaky as shit, though.

How about a game with both horizontal and vertical shoot 'em up stages that also has you exploring caves as a green-haired chick in skintight leotard also featuring innovative boss battles in FPS perspective with some RPG elements thrown in and even has a good story for NES game? A game no-fucking-one has ever heard of?

If I recall correctly, that game had one of the weirdest cheat codes I ever saw. Reset button 13 times for extra lives or something.

That game is a fucking mess. It's a shitty shooter, a shitty platformer, and a shitty RPG/point-and-click "thing." The story is stupid, it's just generic "there are bad guys go beat them" drivel.
