I have to say that beating this game last year was one of the most satisfying things in a long while. Of course I was a pussy and had to use continues.

What I want to know is, that are the sequals as hard?
This first one is tremendous fun.

definitely not as hard. I actually prefer AI 2 & 3 and also AI 4 and Super AI 2 change up the formula and are more action/adventure/rpg's than straight forward action games and are both worth your time.

meant to say I prefer the first AI over AI 2 or AI 3

What? That's what they're there for.

To answer your question, I'm not all that familiar with the series, but I do know Super Adventure Island on the SNES is not too tough with practice. It also has a bitchin' soundtrack by Yuzo Koshiro.

I just didn't want anyone to think that I was THAT hardcore that I'd beat it without any, as it is a kind of a "cheat" you need to unlock.

There was a PS2 remake of this... Takahashi Meijin something something. It played like the original, just had the gfx and music upgraded.

2 is good. 3 is a rehash. I enjoyed 4 very much. Didn't really care for Super 1, but I liked Super 2. The original is the only one I felt accomplished for beating.
