Does anyone on this board own a GCW-Zero or have any experience with one? I'm considering buying one and want to get some legit feedback

It's widely considered to be overhyped and overpriced. You can get an Android based JXD that does the same stuff for the same money or less and you can get a non-Android one for like $35

Hmm, which model would you recommend?

The best one you can get for the price you want to pay.

Hmm the only issue I'm having is that I would really prefer linux over android

GCW owner here, it's pretty damn good.
Some general advice:
>Get the white model if at all possible. The first few batches of black GCWs had a defect that caused the dpad to get very mushy (think brand-new Dualshock); the new batch doesn't have this problem, but apparently there's still a few old ones in stock.
>Right now the only way to install emulators is to either lrn2ftp or get a MicroSD reader. Yes, it sucks. They'll fix it eventually.
>Before installing anything, immediately download and install the latest firmware update from the website.
>To change the volume and brightness, hold power and use the dpad (yeah, I couldn't figure it out either). I have to mention this because the GCW doesn't come with any sort of manual.

Is the GCW Linux? I know Pandora is and a lot of people really rep that thing but it seems crazy expensive. Let me assure you that the Android emulation scene is pretty damn good all the way up to N64 (getting a little bit iffy there, but where isn't N64?)

It won't be too long until you can get PC based gaming tablets. I have a W500 right now I only paid $200 for. It doesn't have integrated controls of course but still.

I wish there was a 7" PC tablet that I could modify a Wikipad controller to accept but there isn't (that I know of)

Why do people buy pandoras? They're ridiculously expensive

>> No.1246576

I own a white GCW Zero and it's been pretty good.

Everything he said.

>> No.1246608

Damn that shit's expensive as fuck I could get a PS3 for that.

I honestly have no idea. Theoretically it was a cool idea like a LONG time ago and I showed it to a real Unix nerd that works at this TV station I know and he got pretty excited but for all practical purposes, there are better choices.
