About to play this for the first time, what should I expect?

>> No.1245276

A very slow, deliberate pacing. Once you get used to it though the game becomes extremely absorbing. Hope you enjoy.

You're gonna want to jack a forklift and race people.

Expect to be looking for sailors.

And playing Outrun.

does someone know where I can find any sailors around here?

Sailors around here? Can't say that I have. Seen any. Around here. Sailors, that is.

How the hell did this become a thing? I got a straight answer on this the very first time I tried it.

Fuck, I love this game. I really want to fire it up and collect some capsule toys.

You're lucky, I remember running around and talking to people forever before I tripped all of the flags to get to the docks.

Maybe you should get another?

When looking for Charlie, does anyone know what to do to make the story progress through Nagai Industries? I've only had it happen twice, and it was a long time ago.

For that matter, is there a guide anywhere that elaborates on all the different "paths" you can take to progress the story? Whenever I replay Shenmue, I end up taking the same route through the game every time, but having stumbled upon Nagai Industries makes me wonder what other content I'm missing.

There's some Easter Eggs in Shenmue, hidden cut scenes and such, and a mind boggling amount in Shenmue 2 (seriously, people were still finding shit in that game years after it came out).

>>1245650
I figured out how to get to Nagai Industries with a little bit of googling. I couldn't find anything the last time I looked (a few years ago), but now everything has a wiki I guess.

For anyone interested, you have to speak to Kinuyo-san at the Lunchbox Stand.

And now I'm in the mood to play Shenmue again.

Yeah man it's fucking evil. The game doesn't start to pick up until the last 10 minutes of the second game. At that point you're like fuck I need to keep going but well here we are.

Shut the fuck up. I guess it's cool to use "autism" to describe every single person or character that is even remotely introverted. Autistic, really? I really hope you were trying to be funny you stupid shit. Maybe you are the one who's autistic, have you ever thought of that?

lol this

It has this very real feeling quality of being a serious martial artist. Ryo lives a modest life, is driven, doesn't seek out conflict (except with Lan Di) but when he has to fight he is a glorious Virtua Fighter

>> No.1246594

>>1246312
I also like how he stacks up differently in both Shenmue 1 and 2. in the first he clearly outclasses the majority his peers, most of whom are thugs, SAILORS, or just a regular joe. In the second however he starts fighting against more trained martial artists and masters and its shown how much more he has to grow. He even gets his shit pushed in on at least 3 different occasions.

>He even gets his shit pushed in on at least 3 different occasions.
That's one way to put it, but I think the best moments are when he isn't necessarily defeated, rather enlightened, like that old man that practices tai chi.

>> No.1246676

>>1246671
yea, thats the parts I was refering to when he is shown how much more he has to grow. the Tai Chi is one of my personal favorite segments of the game btw.

>> No.1246770

>>1246676
Speaking of whom, can he actually be defeated?

>> No.1246984

>>1246770
I dont think so, he dodges at least 90% of the time, and I think the spar is timed before he stops it. if you do manage do beat the odds and somehow hit him enough within that timeframe to do a decent amount of damage I'd imagine he'd just stop the spar early.

Ah yes, word of foresight, spoiler free: explore as much as you can before you reach the point in the game it asks you for disc 3. So keep two save files throughout.

This. It really is worth it to tough it out and let the game suck you in.
