Sandopolis Act 1 is one of the best levels of the classic series, imo. How can you hate all these branching paths and shit? If all you dislike is Act 2, then be more specific.
Lava Reef is good.
And what about the glory of Mushroom Hill, Flying Battery, and Sky Sanctuary?

What about the far superior slot machine and glowy sphere pinball thing bonus stages, compared with Sonic 3 which only had the gumball machine?

Plus, S&K has Knuckles, who actually plays somewhat differently (can't jump as high, gliding, climbing, wall breaking), has a different story, gets to take different paths through the levels, and has harder versions of all the bosses as well as new bosses altogether.
Meanwhile Tails is just Sonic + limited and really slow flight and no super form (we're talking about both games separately, here)

Sonic 3 has save slots and competition mode, but I don't think it can quite compete with all that.

More than that, who the fuck is still playing Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, or Sonic 3 & Knuckles at this point?
Shouldn't we all be playing Sonic 3 Complete?
