Sadly, few games now try to be humorous and usually fail horribly at it. I disliked Borderlands but Disgaea made me chuckle here and there; those are not retro though.

First two MI games were a blast to play. I recommend them even if you don't like LucasArts\Sierra adventure games\genre.

This game definitely had a few laughs at the player's expense.

I avoided FFVII for the longest time under the fear it would be an overly serious and dramatic game that would only get tears of boredom from me.

I'm glad I was wrong.

>doenst know how filters work

Thats the epsxe resolution hack with the native textures. As much as i love to argue in circles about personal preferences this cannot boil down into anything other than
>Filters suck!
>nuh uh!
>Filters suck!
>nuh uh!
>Etc.

Filters can be great if they are done right [spoilers]and if people arent babys about it[/spoilers]

not the same person, but I dont understand why they even exist

why change the default video output at all

I can sort of understand those people who apply a bunch of video card effects to a new game, (even though I would never do that, I always optimize fps) but an old game, that already looks like pixelated ass, isn't modified in any way by that stuff. It still looks pretty much the way it always did, which is to say, low fidelity relative to modern games.

Yeah we can agree to disagree and leave it at that, but its still nonsensical fluff, like a bunch of unnecessary options on a car. rich people problems

it made me laugh out loud when his "trick" to deal with bureaucrats was just to punch the dude right in the face without warning.

Super Mario RPG was one of the funniest games I've ever played.

>> No.1230142

There was an RPG for Sega CD. It was very japanese, and the female lead character had songs to sing as magic spells. There was a dragon who shat crystals, and a town of inbred hicks. It was a pretty good game, despite all of this... ANyway, what was it so we can find screenshots and laugh.

Earthworm Jim. That fucking level where it was a water level, and it was fucking impossible, then the fucking boss was a fish in a bowl and you just had to knock him over. That game was good for a few laughs.

The bonus campaign in HoMM3 Armageddon's Blade. Where Sir Christian is marooned on an island and has to deal with the insane natives.

Good vidya humor isn't entirely dead. The Mario RPGs haven't lost their touch.

I am quite sure that it was not intentional but SSI games allowed for some funny hijinx. This is from my Pool of Radiance party.

Obvious one here, but pretty much anything in the Earthbound series.

After a point the absurdity of everything that happens just won me over.

There's really one major thing that I can't stand about VII and it has one of the worst localization past the SNES/Genesis era. You guys might know of a worst one but to me I can't stand it.
>>1230142
I'm 99% sure that's Lunar. And I was going to say Working Designs. I don't care what you guys say I always loved Working Designs even when the jokes fell flat. To me they had a lot of funny lines in their games and seem to have fun with localizing the games.
