Okay, playing Ghosts 'n Goblins with a controller that responds only 75% of the fucking time is near impossible.

I'm going to buy a new controller. Should I just buy a original Nintendo controller or should I go with a 3rd party controller? How are those 3rd party controllers anyways?

For the NES? I've never had a good experience with a 3rd party NES controller (especially if its one of the shitstain 'retrobit' garbage that's made today). I'd just get an original one off eBay for around 10 bucks. There's a lot of good options for NES controllers too. GnG might do well with an NES advantage or something too for that arcadey style...there's a lot of options for the NES.
