I ran through Brutal Doom 2 last year and that one room with the tower in the middle surrounded by lava/acid/whatever. You hit a button and teleporters open up and everything spills out. Chaingunners, Barons, Cacodemons, etc. Wish I remembered the level.

I killed everything with fists, executions and jump kicks.
Entered the room with 10 or 15 health.

It took me a couple tries, but dear god it was satisfying.

Probably when I came back to DooM in about 2008 and just played through fuckloads of WAD's. Because there were years of backlogs I could just grab the most standout wads and play them.

I really liked Alien Vendetta but I also love mapsets that use Zdoom features as well. Like Stronghold (but I did singleplayer) and the Shores of Zdoom.

It was a real break from the other types of shooters I was playing.

Probably one of the most standout moments though was the level in Hell Revealed called "Post Mortem". Holy fuck man, that level.
To anybody else here who has played it, it just turns the heat up to 11 it was so fucking extreme.

Especially because I always try to go for 100% kills.

It's a bit of both. Being a zandronum mod, there's a dedicated taunt button but it doesn't have much. He mostly taunts on picking up weapons, killing dudes, gibbing dudes, seeing bosses, etc

Well, if you look at a regular bullet for a gun, they have a pointed or rounded tip, evenly, to make it aerodynamic.
You know how bullets cavitate and tumble?
Now imagine a shard or splinter of metal that's completely uneven and not aerodynamic in the slightest, if is projected with enough force, that's gonna tumble and cavitate in ways I'm afraid to even imagine, it wouldn't go in ANY straight angle.

It'd be like being sliced up with a knife from the inside, aside from all the other terrible stuff.

So yes, the worst kind of butthurt I can picture. I mean, assrape isn't as bad as that, if the rapist is really rough, he'll hurt your butthole, but you can heal that up, you can get up from that and move on.

Nah, it was an urban legend. There was never a recorded instance of that happening, the only places online that mentioned it said it was a "cheap chinese chair" with no further specification as to the make of the chair, who the guy was, or even what country he was from.

Furthermore there's a steel plate between the piston and your butt, in fact right under where that supposed exit point (which looks like an X cut with a knife) and the picture has nowhere near the amount of blood that would be there if someone bled out.

I'm ridiculously tired right now so I can't finish this completely just yet (got lots more altdeaths I gotta add, as well as tweaking for separate g/zdoom and zand versions like skins and +clientsideonly, as well as a proper writeup--though credits are done) but here's the 98% complete new version of Fractal Doom. This is for /vr/ only so please dunnat share on zdf or z&f just yet.


Lots of stuff has been updated, every single enemy and weapon is at least slightly changed and many have been drastically changed. Everything is faster.

Mini marines spawned from pain state now carry same weapon as you do. Type "Give minimarinecheat" in console to crank up the spawn rate. They have actual ammo and even ones spawned already having weapons will pick up mini weapons and use them once they run out of ammo for their spawned gun (or in the case of the ssg minimarine, to use in their spawned gun) They also behave more gooder.

Shopvac is added, is chainsaw replacement. Will kill enemies which gives you gib ammo, altfire shoots gibs at enemies. Can also suck up (they will actually get pulled to you) mini spiders, mini cacos, the smallest mini imps, the smallest mini souls and the smallest mini demons. Can shoot the minis back out in the shopvac altfire; is almost as good as a plasma gun. If you idfa or idkfa type "give shopvacminis 900" to be able to shoot them instead of gibs.

The flash state for a good number of the weapons is probably off in g/zdoom, since I've been doing all my testing up until this point in zandronum. Netplay should work but is untested and I've got to do some more stuff for the zand version so I'd just wait for the finished version for that.

Let me teach you a bit about Inheritance. A lot of Doom actors have "parents" that they use to inherit code from--these can be determined by the : in their name, and what follows.

For example
actor Shotgun : Weapon
the shotgun inherits from the Weapon template. If you wanted a shotgun that shot bullets but was otherwise the exact same, you would do
actor My_Shotgun : Shotgun
and it would inherit from the shotgun.

What's going wrong is that you're inheriting from something that doesn't exist. You have
actor BloodSpur : BloodDrop
but either BloodDrop doesn't exist in your code or you placed it in somewhere where it isn't seen.

A safer idea would be to make those actors spawning those blood drops not spawn them. It's more tedious this way, but since nothing is outright removed, you're not as likely to get errors. Children are still inheriting from their parents, just that those parents aren't present in-game.

So I'm starting to draw monsters and was wondering if there were GIMP and Paint.net brushes and plugins you'd recommend that make it easier.

I started by tracing atop an imp but am noticing my pixels need some gradients to add depth and realism to my presently monochrome dark gray character.

I've been legitimately scared by a few before, mostly by those that actually try to build up an atmosphere--see: SCP, Spacedie, and (eventually) Unhinged.
The problem is just that most are genuinely terrible. Either they rely entirely on jumpscares (see: The Factory), the bestiary is entirely vanilla monsters or Realm667 assholes (see: Unloved/Cupcakes), or it tries to have both horror and action in the same vein (see: Realm of the Green Soul).
And that's not even getting into babby's first horror attempt, like IWANNABEYOURFRIEND.

Doom just has very, very few good horror mods.

It would depend on your monster, you may want to edit over an existing one.

Like if it's a baron edit you see the position of the pixels there and put your own over them then add on from there so you are working from a "skeleton" or whatever.

Getting it all to go together is harder than it looks but you get the hang of it. I was pretty OCD about my rotations though.
