Feels like I've played everything, looking for romhacks and I found this! Mega Man 8 Bit Deathmatch! Looks worth a try.

Also, is Rockman 4 Minus Infinity good? Downloading now. And I'm just a few hours into Super Metroid, is the original best, I heard there was a version done that improved things, whats the consensus?

Romhack/Fangame General? Just looking for fun shit to play.

You do know there's a single player campaign, right? It's technically a mod but it's an official part of the game. Right now it's still in development; it has four stages (Cutman, Heatman, Needleman, and Toadman) and six playable characters (Megaman, Protoman, Roll, Bass, Duo, and Fakeman).

>>1192487
I love MM8BDM, it's one of the only FPS games I play right now and I've mapped a little.

I'd be interested in seeing some kind of thing where we play a match or two, I'd be up for any mode. We could probably just go to the DOOM general for it, I don't think they'd mind since it's the same engine.

As to RM4MI, definitely play it if you've played through the NES and GB games. The gameplay and level design are fantastic, even better than the canon games, and there's a ton of content taken from not only the first six NES games but also from the five Game Boy games. It's something you have to wait until you've played through the classic series to play because knowing the origin of all the enemies and bosses make the experience even better.

It's a guideline that all the core stages have to have 255 lighting throughout.

Mods of course have no such limitation, and there was a pack released for Halloween that was partly based around dynamic lighting. One or two stages went a little too far with it and you couldn't see shit unless a weapon was lighting up an area.

Oh, it's hard, and you definitely have to be adequate at the NES games, but considering:

>all the OP weapons you're given
>upgraded Balloon and Wire Adapters to actually work
>after you beat Dustman, you can suck up certain enemies or items to get upgrades including being able to suck up Eddie for a bonus item at the cost of killing Eddie permanently
>the game likes to throw lives at you

It's hard but fair.

>there's no knockback

The knockback is reduced but it's still there. You can't just walk through enemies, but it's still enough knockback so that you can get away from an enemy giving you contact damage. Also note that the bosses' knockback frames have been reduced as well so you are still on the same ground as them.

>you take a million damage from enemies

I'm pretty sure the damage you take per hit has been lessened, actually.

I think RM4MI is a great example of difficulty that is fun. When I first played it Ringman kicked my ass, but I loved him kicking my ass because the level design is so good and varied. And Ringman's weapon in this hack is OP so after you beat him you can use his weapon to take out most enemies.

I can't say it's gotten better. Roboenza has mostly died off (though every once in a while you'll see a server hosting a recent Deathmatch variant -- it's actually really good, the zombies respawn and the point of the game is surviving a timer rather than slaying all the zombies) but the current big thing is Saxton Hale. There are about six different variants of it right now and only 2-3 are decent. Vanilla still doesn't get played that often.

So Roboenza is a zombie survival mod? Am I understanding that correctly?

>> No.1211741

>>1211195
It is. There are three versions.

>Roboenza: LMS game in which one player is picked to be a zombie, and has a melee attack that turns players into zombies. Zombies can be killed by the survivors and zombies commit suicide 90 seconds after being changed. Game ends when all players are zombies or when all zombies are killed.

>Rage Roboenza: Same as above, except the first zombie is given extra health and has no hitsun (to give zombies a chance in the beginning), zombies can utilize a super jump to catch opponents easier, and the final survivor gets a spread rune to make taking out zombies easier (to give the survivor a chance at the end).

>Roboenza Swarm: Deathmatch mode. Rather than only dying once, zombies respawn. The new goal of the survivors is to survive a timer that increases and decreases in relation to frags gotten by the survivors and zombies. Survivors gain runes for killing certain amounts of zombies, as well as gaining a rune when being the last survivor.

From what I've been told it dominated the servers a year ago, though it's only seldom played now and developers don't seem to update the mode anymore.

>Boo hoo it looks different so it's bad not muh megamans

It's fucking Retro, the game would have been at least decent and you faggots know it. Besides, who's to say that it wouldn't have seen some redesigns in the end? (Even though that design looks perfectly fine and actually makes more sense for a realistic Megaman X) After all, Inafune himself tried to drastically change Megaman's look for the first X game and that ended up being put aside for a more familiar look.

But most importantly, it was going to be FPS, so who fucking cares what he looks like? You're only seeing his right arm 90% of the time any fucking way. I personally think it would have breathed some new life into the series that has long since stagnated.

>> No.1214051

It was just way too different and the trailer looked nothing like a Megaman game.

Wasn't Inafune's original plan to make the protagonist Zero? (unless that was a middle plan between his original and the current X design) Zero still looks Megaman-esque, while I wouldn't imagine this new X redesign in any kind of Megaman game.

I've heard great things about Metroid Prime and I personally loved DKCR, but I think that planned FPS was way too different from anything Megaman.

So, yeah, 5 out of 14 Saxton Hale bosses are from TF2. There are variants that try to make new Hales (I've seen Mecha Hitler, Doomguy, Omega Zero, and someone from Touhou so far), but none of those have been accepted as normal Hales, only that list of 14.

But, beyond Saxton Hale, I don't see any other TF2 references. The community map pack has a map based on Dustbowl from TF2, but that's literally the only other thing I can think of.

If anything, I think the big MM8BDM meme pool comes from DuckTales. There's the earlier mentioned Scrooge McDuck Hale, the last Halloween map pack had not one but two maps inspired by DuckTales, and in the core game there's an Easter Egg on Starman's stage where if you look at a certain part of the map 30 seconds in, you'll see Gizmo Duck walking in the background, and if you shoot him the music changes to The Moon theme.

I'll be sure to give it a full chance.

I recently played Megaman: Rock Force, and thought it was a decent game. The RM stages range from passable to good, the stages that follow (I won't give away specifics but it's like Doc Robot, only better) are all really good including one stage that's the best in the game, and the final stage is a noticeable drop in quality, and the ending is anticlimactic and a downer.

Is Rockman No Constancy good?
