Anyone remember the name of some retro fighting game with really brutal finishing moves? It made Mortal Kombat look really tame. I think it was on a Sega console.

Probably Eternal Champions. Play the CD version if you want full gore. One of those games that's much deeper than it might seem at first plus the cartridge version is much cut down, but not in an obvious way - it just makes you think the game sucks.
