So I recently picked up a Sega Saturn with a few games.
Street fighter alpha 2
D
Wipeout
Sega Rally
Fighting vipers

Any recommendations on other games to grab/look out for?

Many people would say Nights into Dreams. You should watch a video of it and see if it's right for you. It's critically acclaimed as one of the best.

I have a modded saturn, its one of my favourite systems. I would recommend modding because most of the good games are very expensive (PDS, RS will set you back hundreds), in fact its arguably the most expensive system to collect for.

importing Japanese games is something you'll want to look into, for this you will need an action replay cart or a modded console. Many great games never made it out of japan and there are some real gems to be found.

Anyway, have this list to get you started...

Dragon Force
Panzer Dragoon Saga
Shining the Holy Ark
Guardian Heroes
Astal
Darius Gaiden
Saturn Bomberman
Exhumed/Powerslave
Panzer Dragoon 1/Zwei
Christmas Nights
Rayman
Magic Knight Rayearth
Albert Odyssey
Sega Rally
Galactic Attack/Rayforce
Manx TT Superbike
Alien Trilogy
Burning Rangers
Shinobi Legions/X
Sega Ages
Dark Saviour
Shining Force 3
Mr Bones
Story of Thor/Legend of Oasis 2
Megaman 8/X3/X4

and some Jap only games....

Metal Slug - requires memory expansion cart
Dungeons & Dragons collection - likewise
Princess Crown
Elevator Action Returns
Warriors of fate
Fantastic Pinball
Dodonpachi
Sengoku Blade
Sokyugurentai
Radiant Silvergun
Cotton Boomerang
Mizubaku
Bulk Slash
Battle Garegga
Capcom Generations
Batsugun
Kingdom Granprix
Thunder Force V
Hyper Duel

Also, there are shitloads of great fighters too apparently but i wouldn't know much about that.

Holy shit that's some list!
Will defiantly have to get some of these (Only PAL ones because I don't have a mod chip or a converter cart.

Any suggestions? (Besides the ones mentioned above?)

That's a great list! Thanks!

On the JAP game side. How easy would these be to play with no knowledge of the language?

Sonic jam was awesome when i was a kid, it felf really special, and there was all the weird 3D section with odd secrets to find like some random japanese cartoon with robotnik in pjamas dressing up as sonic and making everyonee think sonics a jerk. i dunno, if i got another saturn id have to have sonic jam, the saturn i got like 10 years ago died about a week after i got it

Shit son, bumping from the underworld.

I just finished fixing mine. I previously modded it, but this time the fucking switch which tells if the disk flap is open or closed was being inconsistent and causing freezes.

I put some cable tie on that mofo and now it runs smooth as baby bum.

I only have like 4 burnt games though. Where do you guys get your disk image files from? I was using some DC repository but it was rather inconsistent.

What do you do in the case of multi-disk games?

I use emuparadise
In case of multi-disc games fix the switch instead of wiring it shut
