The spell quotes are roughly the second worst translated part of the original after the tutorial (WotL just cut them entirely instead of retranslating them lmao) It's one of the reasons it's really obvious the game had multiple translators and pretty much no editor because the menu translation for that is Stasis Sword. The Japanese name is generally based on it inflicting stop ("don't move no light sword" super literally) but WotL just calls it Judgment Blade because fuck it I guess. Agrias' attack is 不動無明剣 and Romancing Saga 2 has 不動剣 and 無明剣 that are translated as Still Blade and Dark Blade.

Besides the attack name issue that is a text box truncated version of the original Japanese line. You should see how much FFXIV plays it up along with its utter insistence on removing characters yelling attack names for the entire raid series.

Michael-Christopher Koji Fox who was in charge of and still the highest ranking person in FFXIV's localization was one of the translators for WotL by the way. Philip Bright is also shared between the two.

It's just funny to me in general that Tactics is full of and known for chuuni shit like that but Matsuno apparently wants it to be presented as this really staid game full of dignified people to baka gaijin. Although maybe that's chuuni in another way really...

Give the original PS1 version of FFT a try, it takes less levels to advance in classes so you get to experience all the jobs faster, the Engrish in that version is only here and there but not enough to break immersion. It's a good version and assuming you can deal with the more strategic nature of its combat (nuke with summoners) it's a fun time.
