So the last thread died without a decision on the next game. The way I see it, relying on any single OP is not going to work. If this is to continue, we need to come up with a way to choose games so that nobody will bitch. We need to make is as community driven as possible.

Let's get meta.

It was ported to the GBA with additional levels and a save feature. This is the version I play. The additional levels are updated versions of some of the stages from the original Ghosts 'n Goblins and Ghouls 'n Ghosts, including their bosses.

It's also available on Capcom Generation 2 for PS1, but in Japan only. It's just an emulated port.

I would recommend the PS1 version. Reason: no slowdown. They fixed that in the port.

Shouldn't nominations be considered only if there are two or more votes for it? You don't want a random number generator picking some obscure title that only one poster nominated and has never even been discussed on /vr/

Maybe a better idea would be to look at all the games currently being discussed on /vr/ and use them as your list of nominees; then start a thread polling everyone to pick their favorite game. The game with the most votes will be Game of the Week.

Ghouls 'n Goblins (3 or more discussions)
Ninja Gaiden (2 discussions)
SaGa Frontier (one thread, but being referenced in others as well)

Definitely something "Spooky" with a loose definition of spooky. Comical spooky is okay, I'm just saying Halloween themed in general.
A GnG game sounds fun.
Maybe Demon's Crest since less people have played that.

Here's what you do:

Change "/vr/ game of the week" to "/vr/ games of the week". Anyone can join the thread, bring up a game they think would be good, and anyone else can play it. People respond to each other's recommended games with opinions and reviews. Multiple games are being played and discussed at the same time. Everybody wins.

thats not much different than the gauntlet and the thread would be a pain in the ass to read through. the idea is for it to be like a book club. everyone has to play the same game and discuss it. doesn't even have to always be a good game.

i would say 4chan isn't really the best medium for this type of thing though
