I had Super on snes. That was the first fighting game i played. When i had a PS2 i saw Hyper and thought i'd pick it up for nostalgia reasons and it was ok. As i said that list is literally all the fighting games i've played. I never really picked them up again

you can kinda tell people who don't play fighting games and are young/clueless because they would think things like KoF or Samsho which actually are underrated in the grand scheme of fighting games, are "overrated" because people who are actually in the know like them because people in the know of the niche know what makes a game good, but they don't know that because they're so desperately out of the know and walked into a scene they weren't part of

casuals truly only know street fighter, mortal kombat, tekken, and smash brothers, and those are the only fighting games that even have enough popularity to be called "overrated" in the slightest which still would be wrong and purely contrarian of a take....but really other than smash, they're not either because the fighting genre is dead compared to what it used to be and pretty niche still. it might be bigger now than it was in the 00's, but nowhere near what it was in the 90's.

Finding people to play Samsho and KoF (any of them for either really) outside of the few people who actually gravitated to SNK multicabs felt so rare at the time. People always seemed put off by how they were actually hard compared to stuff like the current SF2 version. I was always glad to see how SNK fighting games took off so hard in latin america, always a nice poverty union feeling when the more poor countries and the poor people in richer countries gravitated to the same shit and put in the work to get good. Before the internet really took off they were like different communities that barely even knew about each other.

Only fighting games I can really call overrated are SF5 (its better than it was, but even latestage it was still shit) and maybe Strive. Xrd was decent, but the X2 full era was the pinnacle. Even the music in Strive feels like garbage compared to stuff like Awe of She or No Mercy (or that crazy ass korean ky theme that got used in every combo video ever.)

Fatal Fury is just pure 90s sovl, and something unique in the genre. You really have to be an 80s-90s kid to get it, which if you aren't or don't get the era, don't bother. They're not the objective best fighting games by any means but they have a certain appeal to people for many reasons.

They're also way harder to play than MOTW, aka the SF FF game that's even easier than SF lol, I doubt you could pull off certain supers in some FF games. MOTW is a fine game but it's probably the single easiest SNK fighter to build a decent skillset with.

And you have a DBZ game listed so you're far from beyond having favorites that aren't "the best", quit playing.
