Why was this game so soulful?

Great sound design as well. Collecting apples and breaking boxes feels so satisfying.

Its overall just a fantastic platformer. I do prefer 3's levels though

It's less of a full 3D platformer like Super Mario 64, almost feeling 2.5D at times, which isn't a bad thing since by this point the 2D platforming genre was essentially figured out, so even for a 1st attempt this felt polished and just as good as the 2D stuff I and all of us were playing on our Genesis or SNES. It's a classic 2D platformer, but 3D, the corridor/hallway level design is fun when done right and it was done right here. I love the sequels too, but this felt more like a proper platformer, simpler too, and I appreciate that a lot, it's still my favorite Crash.

Crash 3 Warped is my favorite. The jet ski and airplane levels were just so comfy.

>The Japanese version contains five exclusive music tracks that replaced some themes of the international versions: the themes for the Tawna Bonus Round, Koala Kong, Pinstripe Potoroo, Dr. Nitrus Brio, and Dr. Neo Cortex, respectively. The original Dr. Neo Cortex theme is still heard in the intro cutscene and in his and N. Brio's bonus rounds – only the final battle theme is replaced.
>According to the game's music composer, the replaced tracks for the Japanese release were
>An 11th hour decision made by the Sony people in Japan. They felt that the boss rounds needed to sound more 'video game-like'. The only reference they gave was music from the Main Street Electrical Parade at Disneyland. I only had a day or so to write all those themes. My favorite comment was about the original Tawna bonus round music. It roughly translated into 'the sound of the guitar mixed with the tree imagery is too nostalgic-sounding'. I’m still scratching my head on that one.

at least it doesn't have jarring flaws like SM64, that makes Crash a clear winner.

This, they play just like the 2D/2.5D sections in the PS1 titles, and while they're not as good as what Naughty Dog made, they're competent additions to the franchise and should be more appreciated.

>>11505495
This reminds me of the people that parrot "Sonic was never good" and their only reason is because they run into enemies and die. No, you getting filtered doesn't make a classic title suddently not good.
