I play guitar. Tbh my feelings about playin vidya music is that it's really played out since everyone does the same thing.

I'd prefer to see someone do covera of non franchise nintendo games. There are a lot of non-retro sound tracks that are amazing that I wish more people would want to cover.

Retro music cover. Especially guiar ones are just so tired at this point. Anyone with an ibanez and a crate amp with some distortion can do "heavy metal mario". There's no creativity in it at all. But thats just like my opinion, man.

Listen to ANY and I do mean any metal guitar cover of vidya music. Preferably /vr/ related and you'll always see these things.

>dueling/synchronized guitar in separate windows
>over distorted amp effects
>generally good form but sped up to a unnecessay tempo
>that one part of the song for their wicked killer sweeping solo that entirely throws off the rhythm of the song
>ibanez or LTD/ESP guitar.

I have nothing against metal nor /vr/ music. It's just that every time it's put together you'll see a combination of the aformentioned things the majority of the time. I'm sure I'm wrong in some instances but I haven't found it yet, on youtube at least. That's all I can picture in my mind when someone brings up the topic as OP did.

Super Guitar Bros however are actually pretty legit and damn good guitarists iirc.

People who enjoy metal are brain dead morons who want music they think is edgy. These are people who watch Resident Evil movies religiously because they never matured past the age of 14. They also seem to have illusions of grandeur, making them spurt out "metal" songs that are fucking terrible, infusing it with whatever dogshit ideas their half-developed brains can create.

This is just my personal experience/generalization, obviously, from a U.S. perspective; from what I can gather Eurobros tend to be more appreciative of metal so these generalizations wouldn't apply there.

I bet that would play and sound like ass. The nintendo one however looks legit. Someone that knows guitars probably built it. Still probably wont play that great but its better than that shitty genesis one. Looks as if it would fall apart with one bend.

Well a typical sega fan would make a genesis guitar because they think it'd be uber badass and cool, the dude that made the nes guitar probably genuinely likes music and nintendo and decided to merge the two in a well made product.

>> No.1150621

>>1150618
It could probably be done decently on a genesis as well. Just whoever did it probably doesnt know shit about a proper set up for the body. He'd have been better off with just one humbucker or a 3-single coil - strat set up. Single coil and humbucker is the shittiest sound except on a nice telecaster. Even then I'm not really a fan. It's just a sloppy job on the dudes part. No fanboyism here either. If the nintendo one looked that shitty I'd have said the same.

I have a Les Paul so I'd like to play something with a nice thick sound to it. As for what I play, it's mostly blues(because I'm a newbie and it's solid practice :p) but I'd like to try something faster and heavier. Perhaps something from megaman?

>> No.1150657

>>1150650
Unless you're really good at sweeping and whatnot you won't be able to play mega man songs as a beginner. It's not impossible but it's definitely going to be a challenge going from
Blues to metal. Entirely different structure. 12 bar scales are alot easier. I've been playing for around 10 or 11 years and strictly blues for the past 4 or 5. It'll definitely help you learn proper rhythm, increase your dexterity and help a lot with speed but its going to take you a good while to get it down solid.
