11422016 No.11422016 [Reply] [Original]

I have a lot of nostalgia for these things, playing dozens of sprite hacks of nes games based on various things (specially Pokemon ones), playing multiplayer Balloon Fight or Dr.Mario with my parents, finding weird bootleg games, etc...

Can't go wrong with Game Box Plus.

I'd have to dig it out to check but it had NES games like SMB1, Duck Hunt and a lot of others. It also has a cartridge slot on the back but I've never tested it out, I wonder if it can play any NES/Famicom game

>Every modern famiclone (if you can even call them that) is one of those weird machines with shitass clones of games that play worse than the originals or have "new" games that are almost unplayable.
This is probably one of the better ones, just wish you could use carts on it (iirc its missing adventure island and other classics).

I have about a dozen of these, Adventure Island is always on there. Same with SMB1, SMB3, Contra, Turtles, Tetris, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man etc.

around how many games it has before they repeat or the bootlegs start appearing?
Also are DK Jr, Ice Climbers, Excitebike and Doc Mario there?

Just don't buy the Walmart/Five Below one since it's missing most of the games

I have a grey one like this.
I tried the gameslot, but it doesn't work. Putting the power on instantly opens the gamelist.

Spider-Man: Return of the Sinister Six is better.

Holy shit, this is the exact knockoff I had in the early 2000s but I don’t recall the box having Star Wars on it. I think I got it at a mall kiosk for 40 or 50 bucks.

Definitely the game I posted is fucking garbage kek, I just needed an example for original famiclone games as they're usually just reskins.

the best ones of these i ever played was one where the entire console was just a n64 controler
but it had a piston built ON the controler and you stick the fucking cartridge directly on the controler

I love watching videos about these and their absurd games
But what's really crazy is the ones that makes NES roms and put weird texture packs over them and turn them into utter nonsense

>> No.11427582

I was usually an Pakistanian man with his son selling these in a kiosk in the mall. Most likely made $100 total then went back home to live like royalty for 2 years before coming back to do it again. There are levels of poverty that I can't easily imagine. Some work for the equivalent of 5 cents a day and hate on young Pakis who skate or do other things they were not allowed to do as kids themselves.

Same here except mine was yellow and red. I do recall the Episode One stuff too. I got it right before the classics became hot stuff again around the early 2000s, like say 2004? I paid 30 bucks to the Russian-sounding dude and felt it was a bit too much at the time..heh. It finally broke one day and I threw it away.

While I'm not particularly fond of the Chinese politics, but how else could I even afford to enjoy the games I love. The clone and emulation boxes are at a price that the average working person can get a taste of luxury.
