I believe we should stick in making VR-GCCX's releases as easy to watch as possible. I think that's the main reason SAGCCX and LCGCCX stick to hardsubs. It may seem easy, but many people have no idea what to do to make subtitles appear. Not to mention softsubs are pain in the ass for people who put them on video streaming sites. I'd say, stick with the hardsubs.

I have no idea who is actually ripping raws from source, but I am grateful. They're not the best /a/elitist fag encodes, but top 5 most the time.

I have tried source all the missing episodes that are untranslated, there is no 'one place', I think i have all of s16-s17 untranslated.

the FTP has a good raws folder to start, I'll add the missing ones I was able to source at some point

Yes, actually, but it would involve using the same raw used for the softsub, and that raw would have to be a transport stream, so for most episodes, this is impossible.

Yeah that guy's right, AegisSUB and the programs that came out after it are the way to do this. If you really get skilled you can use Adobe After Effects to make all the fonts absolutely perfect in all ways. And you can contain the soft sub files in the video file itself or release them as standalones that play with players. I think when they get around to subbing the really nice raws that exist from recent seasons they might take advantage of these things. I think LC already might. It's pretty much standard in "the scene". x264 is already mandatory for actual scene releases.

Shinya Arino is a happy go lucky, middle aged, Japanese comedian with average to poor video-gaming skills. The show is him trying to play old retro games to completion, while he, his commentary, and the games are recorded in the process.

They usually give him about 12 hours or so real time to finish the game, although sometimes they'll give him another day if the game is long and they think he'll eventually get it done.

After he finishes the game or runs out of time, they edit it down to the highlights and it becomes about an hour long episode. They also add narration and tense music where appropriate, and you'll laugh / be surprised at how invested you become over whether Arino will complete [insert obscure random 25 year old game] or not before time runs out.

In between footage of him playing the game, they'll play prerecorded segments of him visiting local arcades / small candy shops that fans suggest where he can try out different games and just showcase the places and explore the local culture. They also have additional little prerecorded skit segments depending on the different seasons.

(Various groups on the internet - this board recently included, then translate and subtitle the episodes so we in the English speaking world can enjoy them as well)

All together, if you're a fan of retro games (and considering you're on this board I'd imagine you are) it's worth checking out. You'll probably be shocked at just how enjoyable it is. The OP explains how you can watch.

Too lazy to respond to specific posts but I see some questions regarding ts.

1) I don't live in Japan or Sweden, where I live is irrelevant; I get the capped ts from a friend.
2) GCCX airs primarily on CS Fuji ONE, a communications satellite (CS) channel. The channel itself is carried by a few providers - the primary one is SkyPerfecTV's CS broadcast system. There are two versions of this - ISDB-S MPEG-2 sat & DVB-S2 MPEG-4 AVC sat. It is also carried on various cable and hikari ("light"/fiber-iptv) providers.
3) The .ts I've been uploading are from the ISDB-S MPEG-2 broadcast. While technically I could get the AVC ones too they are (most likely, haven't checked) lower video quality because Sky PerfecTV Premium is really low bitrate.
4) These TV broadcast systems are digital; a ts capped by one capper is the same as any other of that channel barring signal drops. Signal drops are pretty noticeable though (you'll just get garbage for some amount of frames).
5) The broadcast res of Japanese TV in most places is 1920x1080i or 1440x1080i (anamorphic 16:9). When you see 1125i it is a 1080i channel, go look it up if you want the technical details.

TL;DR: Short of a BD release or airing on a channel with a higher bitrate, you wont find a higher quality version of the show.

Japanese man (now 41 years old) is part of a pretend game making company called Game Center CX. In the first season half of the show would be the main character, Arino, whom is the 'Kacho' (chief) of the company, would interview game companies like Konami and such. The other halfs of the episodes would be him challenging games to reach some sort of plateau in each one, usually a score or beating a short game.

In season 2 and currently the main focus of the show would be the staff giving Arino a single game that he must play from start to finish within a span of usually 13-14 hours at most so his game challenges usually end around midnight or later as he starts around 10 AM.

He regularly gets help from the other staff like the assistant producers/director (AP/AD) in co-op or just help beating a boss/level or just advice. He also sometimes goes head on with them in games that have vs. modes.

He's not very good at video games, thus why his challenges usually take a long time where people used to playing video games can beat those games in half the time and such.

Note: The games he plays are retro games, being from no later than Playstation and N64 era, most are NES games, but also do SNES, Genesis (master system), turbografx and such.

When not challenging games, he is off checking out arcades around the country (game centers they are called in japan, so in reality to us the show would be called Arcade CX in the west, but the western release of this show is called Retro Game Master)

You have no idea what you are talking about. They subbed the episode themselves, but had to take it down when Discotek licensed it for OFFICIAL English release on Retro Game Master DVD. As for softsubs, SAGCCX never did a softsubbed release and probably never will, they want them to be as easy to watch as possible . They used to do dual releases containing hardsubbed video and subtitle file, but they stopped doing that for one reason or another.

To tell the truth, they used to be (I dunno if they still are) available on Roku. There were also a plans to bring the DVD to other VOD services, (I remember rumors about Netflix and Crunchyroll) but they fell through.
