It's not a bug, it's an intended mechanic that tons of quality action games use (like this mini boss at 30 secs). When an enemy colision routine is in range of the player, the game first checks if the enemy is flashing and if it is bails out instead of hitting the player. It's intended extra lines of code they could do without. It's done to avoid things such as both player and enemy hitting themselves at the same time or unfairly punishing the player and getting him hit while he's attacking or right after he attacks, including when the enemy isn't even in an attacking frame.

All of the early NFS games had good art direction as the vision was (as I like to phrase it) to give a playable experience of the bedroom wall poster. Pics like this are the sort of bullshots manufacturers put out and is the sort of thing that ended up on posters to sell the image of exoticness and that is what the games strived to emulate.

That's a really good way of putting it. I'm sure many boys and teens had their imaginations captured staring at all the details in those posters imagining the ride through sun swept shores and moody autumn days, thank you for putting it in those words.

NTA

I just convert an OBS studio recording set to deliberately low output settings like aspect ratio. Then I convert that video to the same format but with the audio stripped out to a smaller encoding. Then I take that and put it in an old version of webm converter set to 'variable' with 'CRF' set to 43 and leave the rest untouched.
There is a 2:00 minute max video length limit on this board now though, so I had to cut this 2:25 FMV sequence which was only about 1.24 MB.

Ah, but after using avidemux again to cut the video it is now a nice 842kb.

>> No.11298163

>>11298153
Are you saying you basically record video and audio separately and splice them together, but record audio at a much lower quality so it doesn't eat up as much data? AFAIK most boards don't even support audio in webms, which means... am I making webms that contain audio data eating up free room even though the audio isn't even supported natively without some kind of plugin or workaround?

>> No.11298183

>>11298163
No. I don't know how to make OBS record audio seperately. Instead I choose a low aspect ratio as the "canvas" or whatever gay shit that means and below it I choose the output to be even lower then that. The black bars on my recordings is because emulators need an additional setting to center on screen or you get weird stuff happening in the recordings.
But yes audio is what takes up a lot of memory.

Avidemax has an option to remove audio as follows:
>audio at the top bar
>in the menu uncheck everything
>pressokay
>ignore audio encoding
>choose a good video encoding that lowers the memory even more
>choose an output at the bottom menu
>in the top left menu use 'save'
>correct any errors that pop up
>try again
>see your file size get chopped down to a much smaller size
THEN with Webm Converter from github just run the webmconverter.exe file and locate your Avidemax converted video file. Follow instructions. I am certain the UI has changed and my version is so old it isn't applicable to you guys but webm converter will reduce the file size further.

If it is still too big Avidemax can crop the video just set start and end markers and just save the same way you would normally.

Okay so I have a different PC and I have a brand shiny nuOBS Studios to play around with so using VBR and keeping kbs or whatever at 2500 and stuff but keeping the aspect ratio low (yet reasonable) I already got sub-1MB from converting with the exact same settings i always use for Avidemax. However due to compatibility issues I still used webm converter and sure enough the newest version I snagged is just too different from mine and only cut the size down again by 20%.

Again, as i said before cutting out audio = way smaller file size. I cannot help if you want to cut down for audio in a different board though.

Actually I cheated and changed them on the emulator myself for emulation. I don't have a Saturn anyway so my PSX pad wouldn't have fitted. I did UP and down for Forward and Backwards, R1 for strafing, L1 for independant turret looking, and L2/R2 for looking down/up; so the setup is similar to King's Field

then all you need to do is remember which button does what in the menus because that can become confusing since up/down aren't up/down

>> No.11314923

>>11313915
also the English fantranslation of Gungriffon 2 added support for the Saturn's dual joystick. Meaning that if you emulate you can turn that into a duble analog setup in which left analog is moving and right analog is looking.

However looking around feels delayed (I think that's just how the game works, not input lag) so I didn't use that
