Yes, anon, everyone is a hipster. Get it out of your system.

To answer OP, I don't, mostly because I don't care for how much of it is designed. I saw a neat Mario 3 shirt here a few months ago, but whoever made it ruined it by copying the entire boxart onto a shirt instead of just using the picture. It looked crazy awkward.

I had a shirt like ten years ago that just had a big NES/SNES D-pad and said "16-BIT" in blocky letters. I wish I could still find that.

Of all the game shirts out there, the best I've seen are fangamer's wares. They can be very clean and subtle while still being cool to a fan. I'm not a fan of really obvious shirts, nor ones with stupid text. A good shirt example would be the 'Hunter' shirt on fangamer, where a bad shirt would be those 'I scored with the princess' Mario shirts that might still be sold in hot topic.

/fa/ taught me: dressing well > dressing unique

I'm glad that through long trial and error and introspection I found out that dressing unique or at least unusual is more important to me. Dressing well is so ridiculously easy and so boring, I've even begun to appreciate people who are unaware of how they dress, for their sincerity.

Dressing "well" is the equivalent of playing Next-Gen regeneration shooters is the equivalent of listening to pop is the equivalent of eating a chicken sandwich.

Your looking down on or rolling your eyes at someone who wears an obnoxious shirt.. is the average casual gamer playing nice and tidy games who frowns in incomprehension when you're playing something retro.

It's very sad that most people only think outside of the box in one or two areas of life while adhering to the established standards in all other areas of life.

This is one of the only few virtues the true hipster has: he usually strives for eccentricity and unusualness in many areas of life, often unfortunately to the extent that it becomes a contest or mere show.

The problem is the contradiction, because society is constantly trying to tell me (people) that we need to be "ourselves" and creative and original, yet we know it's a fallacy and a common place saying.

This board is interesting because, aside from hipsters who tryto fit in with "retro gaymz", the rest of us are older guys who are not teens anymore and can discuss this kind of stuff more objectively and bitch less than other boards like /v/ or /fa/ which are filled with teenagers.
No, the solution isn't to follow society like a sheep either, it isn't trying to stand out either. I think nobody has the solution or magical recipe to be happy or successful in life, but I have the belief that it's always better to neither stand out nor be part of the sheep.

How about just dressing appropriately for the situation? If you're at a gaming con, for example, bust out the gaming t-shirt. If you're in a t-shirt and jeans type situation then wear what you like.

Ironically for the vocal idiots in this thread, no one even pays attention to what's on your t-shirt unless they recognize it. The people who look down on you for what you wear have a major stick up their ass. People care more about your personality and how you act, you dumb narcissistic trash.

This thread proves to me again, socially retarded nerds suddenly made aware of basic propriety relating to dress react the most violently to other nerds who you presume share the same ignorance. Most people over the age of 20 have "how to dress appropriately" figured out, though. Sorry, you're the real idiot.

You are all free to wear what you like, only make sure not to wear a super mario t-shirt on a funeral or not to wear a tuxedo when you are with your friends or out of work.

If you show some respect to other people you are all able to wear what you want.

The best are just designs that are recognisable only to people who have actually played a game.

For the example (that almost everyone already has), the weak point symbol from Shadow of the Colossus. It just looks like a fairly cool nondescript tribal design to people who haven't played it and they won't even think its a reference to anything, but people who have played it will think its very familiar.

For almost all situations graphic tees are a no-no.

I'm /fa/ retarded though, but my casual wardrobe basically consists of
-Several button downs, mostly vertically striped or solid colored
-polos, horizontally striped or solids
polos and button downs are worn with an undershirt always
-blue jeans in good condition
-sneakers, something low key with neutral colors (to go with everything). The simpler the design the better.
-hoodies if needed, a tan duck jacket for colder weather (layer if necessary)

more dressy
-slacks (black/khaki/navy)
-belt to match shoes (black or brown)
-peacoat if it's cold (plus scarf/layers if needed)
-button down with or without tie/polo (tucked in with undershirt.

Graphic tees aren't all bad though. They're good for summer days when you're doing something outside with shorts on, just don't expect to get any pussies wet with them.

I get feedback from my gf whenever I'm in doubt about an outfit though. She's kept me from looking like a retard several times

If you wear a black slim fit button-down shirt does that mean your obsessed with the color black? "Obsessed" is really reaching here, don't be quick to draw conclusions.

Also, you play games that were developed with kids as a target audience. People judge you. Now, do you give a fuck? I hope not. When asked, you probably act mature and aloof and try to tone it down with a "oh that, yeah, that's a little hobby of mine". And that's completely ok. Color theory is not really about "passing for good". It's just that some colors look inherently better with others including your hair color and skin tone. Regardless of type of clothing you are wearing.

The only reason most people don't study it is because shops already do that for you.

I have seen people making fun of other people wearing anime T-shirts (unless they are girls, so it's ok for a girl to wear a T-shirt with cute anime girls on them even if they don't watch anime) but not even one making fun of people wearing video games T-shirts. I have seen many adults casually wearing Super Mario or Sonic T-shirts (even thought they looked like the last time they played video games was when they were teenagers), just like many adults casually wearing Looney Tunes, Marvel/DC superhero comics, Thundercats etc T-shirts (even if they don't watch cartoons and read comics anymore).

My point? They are just fucking T-shirts! No point making so much fuss about it unless you are a snob bitch grumping to your boyfried for wearing even T-shirts of Metallica. Only if you wear MLP T-shirts people have the right to make fun of you because only bronies wear MLP T-shirts.
