Sad as it is, I love this game with all my heart, easily one of my top favorites of all time.
Klonoa's words at the end of Klonoa 2 directly referencing the "we'll always be together" made it even better, I adore this franchise.

Furries don't have souls. That said, the ending was pretty sad.

The sequel runs very well on PCSX2, I absolutely recommend giving it a chance if you liked the first game.
For the record, there's also a WonderSwan game that predates the GBA games, it's very similar to the later handheld games, although in black and white. It was released only in Japanese but there's a patched rom with a fan translation on CDromance.

The GBA games are pretty fun, yep. I haven't played Heroes yet though, it got a translation not long ago.
>i also played the wii remake, but dont remember how different it was from the original
Klonoa's outfit is different, he's wearing a vest instead of a collar. The graphics were completely revamped to make it more similar to the sequel, since the idea was to re-release them both together-ish. Many dialogs were changed, with Huepow getting many of the lines that were originally Klonoa's. It was redubbed, with new localizations in several languages, but you could still set the audio to "Phantomilian" if you wanted it to sound more similar to the original. It was a bit easier than the original, with 5 hearts instead of 3, and with a couple points with minor changes like having only two enemies instead of three. Also, you can pass through enemies after getting hit, so you can just run through certain areas if you have enough life. Interestingly, there are two points (that I remember) where the enemies in the remake move faster for some reason, most notably a guy in Vision 5-1 that was easier to kill in the original.

The Phantasy Reverie Series remaster is a curious mix of both versions. It uses the Wii remake as a base, but Klonoa is changed to look more like in the original, and it (mostly) uses the original dialogues and audios.

sometimes I wonder if there are only 5 people who post on /vr/ and every time I see a Klonoa thread it worsens this fear. It has been posted here enough that I tried it. Its ok, wouldn't recommend it but it isn't bad by any means.

It does now that PCSX2 is good. It used to be pretty much unplayable with the glitches it had in the past.

I don't make threads to say how much I like this game, but if other anon makes one, I'll be happy to post in it. Even more so if the thread isn't made by one of the other 4 anons who like the game but by someone new.

>>11281283
True. PCSX2 improved a lot, I actually can't remember a single problem the last time I emulated Klonoa 2.

As a huge fan of the first game, I was pretty disappointed with the sequel. It didn't felt as dream-like and atmospheric. It felt more childish and less soulful.

I'm surprised any of the gameplay was changed, the first and second games are so deliberately constructed there's never more going on than there needs to be.

The number of enemies is a very minor change. I don't remember at how many points it's different but I'm sure it was a very small number of points, and off the top of my head I only remember this one.
I think that being able to run through the enemies was an oversight. It seems like a big change, but if I recall correctly, when I played both versions back to back the only point where it made a big difference was Vision 6-1, it felt much easier to force your way through certain part in the level. In other levels it hardly lets you advance faster, but it can help you survive a hit when you're next an edge, I think that's probably why the change was made.

the only notable thing the Wiimake did was remove the original game's slide inertia that fucked with your jumps on the 1 tile platforms in 6-1 and 6-2
