I'm sorry for your loss. It's ODE time.

This happened to be. I figured, what the hell, I'll get the HDMI dongle and replace the optical drive with the SD card reader mod.

One out of every 10 times I tried to load a game, and when it did it crashed after a minute.

Now I just use dolphin.

I remember when my PS3 began the yellow flashing light of death more than a decade ago. The first thing I did was go online and bitch about it like a child throwing a tantrum.

The years ahead are going to be tough, with AI emerging. AI isn't going to do much to improve the human experience, but it'll sure be used to crawl the internet for rom sites.

Thank god I already have a fullset of every console I care about. But you're right, maybe I should get the extra storage and download all the (non shovelware) PS2 games.

Learn to not recommend the same fix for every problem even when it's likely not related at all. Bad caps are generally only a factor worth considering in high-temperature locations in products and for products made during capacitor plagues.

Learn how much of a common problem bad caps on the driver PCB are on gamecubes and how they almost always cause disc read issues.
and how recapping can fix it.

I remember that it can work for old PC motherboards and bring them back to life which is wild! if I recall it has to do with effectively reflowing the solder allowing for proper electrical flow I think. it can work but it depends on the temperature limits of components.
