Does /vr/ have Battletoads?

>> No.1122375

i've had battletoads in ragnarok's world for the gameboy, it was one of the first games i got for the system. from what i understand it's basically a port of the NES game, with the original battletoads gb game being a bit different. which im thankful for because fuck rat race.

but you seem to be going the "lol battletoads" route with this thread

>> No.1122412

>>1122363

Yeah.

I actually found a copy in my old closet at my parents' house few months back. It was pretty surreal.

It was like, this whole time, I had Battletoads all along.

Yes.

With original box and manual.

Yes for the NES.

OP here. Sorry about delayed replay, connection problems.

This thread is whatever. I loved Battletoads for the NES, as well as the Gameboy and all other releases for it. I was really disappointed to find out that the Battletoads for the Wii was a hoax, because that was one genre that I would give a shot and see how they would be treated in this new day and age.

They really shit in my cornflakes with that one, but I still love Battletoads.

>> No.1122497

yeah, I own it, love the game, and still trying to beat it. It's one of my life goals.

p.d. let's wait 'til RARE DESTROYS IT with a REMAKE on XBOXONE

I sold the NES and Gameboy versions a few months ago.

I've beaten the NES version, but never played the gameboy one that much. My advice, get very good at the Wookie Hole and you'll have a much easier time.

>> No.1122524

Fuck yeah, played that game when it first came out.

>Everybody talking about the Battletoads games for Nintendo consoles (mainly the NES version)
>Almost nobody talks about the awesome, arcade Battletoads game
>No console port for the arcade game
OK, the arcade game was your typical beat'em up game but at least it was quite well-made with nice, straight-forward action instead of having frustating, Nintendo Hard platform/racing/whatever crap.

Alternatively, take the warp right at the start and just get your practice in at Turbo Tunnel. Though saving up lives by juggling birds isn't a bad strategy.

It's a property long overdue for revival. For better or worse. Almost certainly worse.

It was quite well made. But far too short for home consoles. The reason it never got ported, I'm sure.

It's a great game to play with strangers for the short time it takes to beat though.

For the time being Microsoft ruins Killer Instinct with the mediocre reboot on Xbone. Yeah, the graphics looks nice but I can't say the same thing for the character design, the soundtrack and the gameplay. The only people who will enjoy are fighting games maniacs who have never played the older games.

And to think off that I was wishing for a new Killer Instinct for Xbox 360. Me and my big mouth. Killer Instinct 1&2 HD would be fine too. But not for Xbone, nobody wants an Xbone for their next console.

Not him, but mint just means it's in perfect condition, not that it's still in plastic wrapping. So yeah, he can play it a little and it's still mint.

Back on topic... I have both the NES and GB version. Haven't really played the GB much. Played the NES quite a lot but have never beaten it. I feel like that once you put it down for a period of time, you have to relearn a lot. All the levels are so different and it's a lot about memorization. I find that you basically have to play it everyday for a period to beat it.

>> No.1122779

The only thing good about Battletoads was the excruciating pain of every single level after 1

>> No.1122850

The SNES version was strange cause it had only one real Beat 'm Up Level (the first one). After it is mainly survival reaction games which was kind of unmotivating. Still, the music was fun to listen to.

Gameplay isn't piss poor if you read hands on reviews. And plenty of people I know want an Xbox One. Let's not bring this whole next gen console war thing over to /vr/, we've got plenty of Genesis vs SNES threads as is.

I'm excited for Crimson Dragon. Sadly, I can't see myself buying a console just for one game. I'm poor as fuck.

>>1122858
There's three versions: A free version with Jago only, the full version with all of the characters, and a sort of "Deluxe" package which comes with the first Killer Instinct and I believe all future content.

The only thing I find iffy about it is that there isn't a retail version, and that they're rolling out characters in waves like shitty "DLC Season Passes". That being said, offering a free version could spike interest in fighting games, which would be pretty cool, but I'm not sure Microsoft is really making a safe bet here.

I never said that the gameplay was piss poor. I just say that it doesn't looks so nice. And judging a game based on paid ereviews? Wow! In the end you will tell me that DMC reboot was awesome.

Zitz probably has the single most brutal move. Going up to a rat that's down on the ground and putting a drill to his face while a fountain of blood rockets up into the air. I must have been the exact right age to be impressed by that.

I have the NES version with manual and Battletoads and Double Dragon for the SNES and Genesis. I used to have Battletoads on the Genesis way back when. Me too. It just looked nicer and neat. I imagine it was just to save money, but why did Nintendo have to make their boxes out of cardboard? Growing up, my parents threw away most of the NES, SNES, Gameboy, and N64 boxes. Genesis and most rental places had the right idea.

Because some company bought the right to license games in only the UK, Australia and Italy, they were coded to a certain format. Then Nintendo wanted to distribute their games in all of Europe, and so they sold games with a different coding.

It is very annoying, because games for the British and Italian NES do not work for the European NES and vice versa.
