I played that a while back being able to power down from Super Sonic was pretty great, indeed. I doubt I'll play it again though, I generally do like to play games as they were released and only go for romhacks with custom levels.

Little things. In S3&K they took out some of those orbinauts in Launch base and replaced the spring in the beginning of Hydrocity act 2 with an extra life. In S3C that stuff is back to the way it was, and as said before Big Arm is back too.

Gave him an intro sequence. It's a very little touch but it's nice and makes him feel like less of a third wheel. He also has his own results screen colors and continue screen.

I also love it because it panders to every esoteric taste imaginable. Like, since I grew up the PC S&K collection, I really preferred the changed Carnival Night music but I still prefer Ice Cap and Launch Base from the Genesis, so I can switch Carnival Night to a remastered version from the PC game but leave everything else as is.

Also Flying Battery takes place after Carnival Night Zone, and Sonic rides the door he breaks when escaping from FB in Ice Cap Zone.

According to what people said in Sonic Retro, It´s supposed that FB is destroyed (and crashes on Carnival Night, that´s why Knuckles practically skips that level) in the Sonic story, but Knuckles path was rushed and short in the original game, so skipping it was out of the question.
It looks better now. You can play night Flying Battery with Sonic and Tails and day FB with Knuckles. Makes more sense IMO now.
They should add something like a boss or miniboss for Knuckles at the end of Lava Reef (pic related, give it a second try, changing his passive behaviour to an agressive one) or in the Hidden Palace, prior to the Sky Sanctuary final fight.
Also they should add the Carnival Night boss for Knuckles in his lower path. The Knux CNZ2 path is so short and retarded is not even funny.

I always kind of wished Knuckles had a full zone exclusive to himself, with maybe a boss design that would be impossible for sonic kinda like how death eggs miniboss is impossible for knuckles to even hit.

According to code Flying Battery was moved at the last minute, or at least late in development to S&K after they decided that Sonic 3 was going to be two games. It's clever, because in the revised placement in Complete Sonic uses the door that he breaks to escape as the snowboard when he lands in Ice Cap.

After Mushroom Hill, There's a big wind geyser that sends him flying into Sandopolis.
