>dem pretty graphics

They had a lot of cool touches for SMB2. I like how the mushrooms like slightly different. And the mushroom-textured platforms.

yeah i always liked them too, why there isn't a hack for smb to have these graphics?

All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros does it officially, too.

I've only ever played the All Stars version of SMB2/Lost Levels. I had no idea these differences were there in the NES version, pretty cool.

They don't seem to be present in the GBC version either.

I think the official name is SMB2(USA) and SMB2(JPN)

>> No.1114273

maybe I'm just weird but I dislike the graphical tweaks to SMB2 JP. they don't really improve the aesthetic of the game and in general feel tacked-on

Maybe if the mario sprite was more detailed it would look better

Speaking of this, the Super Nintendo version of JSMB2 on Super Mario All-Stars was easier, right? I think the red piranha plants were just quicker; they changed it so that they didn't come out of the pipe even if you were near it. Maybe something else, but I can't remember.

As far as I know, SMBDX on Game Boy is the only version in the West that is unaltered. Am I correct?

>> No.1114507

The VC version is completely faithful to the original. And that was available in the west.

>> No.1114714

SMBDX on the gameboy is altered, they cut out the worlds after world 8 and I think some of the other changes were reverted back to SMB. However, there is a version on VC now that is unaltered.
