Sup.

So, someone in a romhack thread I was reading the other day linked to this FF7 mod. I was pretty interested. Personally, I've never done any of the ridick challenge-modes people do with FF7. For some reason it just never really appealed to me. I guess it's probably just me being lazy.

That being said, I was really excited to hear about this mod because I actually would like to play FF7 with a higher difficulty. So far I've played up to 7th heaven, and I gotta say, if it keeps up at what it's at now, the game might actually be revived with me (I mean, I've played it through god knows how many times, gold chocobos and all that jazz).

When it starts out, you're taking a decent amount of damage from enemies, and it takes a bit longer to kill them. It gives you about 20 or so potions to start with, and Barrett starts with Steal, so you can get grenades and shit from the enemies in the first area.

So, get to Guard Scorpion, haven't grinded at all, just sort of going through. They changed his search scope move to something else--using the same animation. Now, it does damage and inflicts stop most of the time. The battle actually took some effort, and I had to heal quite a bit throughout.

Gonna play more, but yeah. Has anyone else tried this? Does it get even harder or does it balance out a bit?

I think I was the person who linked to it. But that sounds good, I'll try this out my next time playing it for sure.

Hopefully this doesn't have anything to do with insane difficulty. Anything to do with that site is not worth the time or investment for a majority of reasons.

Seriously. Just get a NES instead. You are wasting your time with that. Also, FF was hard enough as it was.

Final fantasy VII here champ.

It sounds cool OP but Barret starting with steal seems racist.

Yeah, he should start with Mug instead.

Was about to comment on the hilarity of Barrett having steal, but others beat me to it.

ye-esss..? Was there a point to that other than simply reaffirming that fact to textual form?

Is there any point to you posting that or anything else?

Is cloud getting shot in the head or is his head exploding from over exerting himself trying to pick up the sword?

Barrett and Cid are my favorite characters in FF7.

Not really, i just wondered the relevance of what you said in conjunction to what i said. (im saying that in a non-douchy way)

> Worrying about what the black guy uses
The game starts with Cloud+Barret, and Cloud already has both materia slots full. Who else is going to have a utility materia?

If anyone is wondering where to find the mods, check the Insane Difficulty forums.

For god's sake you better be stealing like Carlos Mencia with a student loan. And the difficulty gets much harder as it goes on, and some enemies can straight-up wipe out the party unless you have sadness, shell, etc on at all times.

Also, even though Cloud (and everyone for that matter) will be spamming limit breaks like crazy, it takes much longer to learn them to balance it out. And bring Aeris with you to as many boss fights as you can. Healing Wind goes from fairly handy to a lifesaver in this.

So do you feel like it's hard to the point it's frustrating and tedious, or is it actually fun?

>> No.1118915

I played through the game with hardtype. It starts off quite challenging while not completely overwhelming you. The probablem is that by around the halfway point (or maybe three-quarters of the way through, I don't remember exactly) it starts to feel like normal FF7 again.

Oh wait, that is until you get to Safer Sephiroth and he kicks the living shit out of you.
