This makes me upset. Why is this shit allowed, /vr/? it's not even THAT rare.

Overpriced Games General

>> No.1111413

Because there are fools who will part with that much money or more for a copy of it.

>> No.1111426

If anyone has a decent link to a Dragon warrior 7 that isn't scratched to hell, post it. Low end of the prices never include a pic of the disc.

Hipsters.

>> No.1111445

It's bad enough I see these prices online, but almost every flea market/swap meet I go to sell at online prices. Its reseller after reseller and I can't stand it. Is retro game colecting not sacred anymore?

Retro game collecting was ruined by the internet and social media. You're better off just keeping your old games.

Notice how there are 35 of them? They can sit there with their high price.

I can't imagine the bubble of retro games getting any worse than it is now.

Unfortunately this.

Resellers these days can afford to hold onto their shit and not change prices/refuse to haggle without much consequences. Back before the days of eBay/Craigslist, resellers had to deal with shelf space limitations (space cost money) so they couldn't afford to hold on to games for more than a month at a time. Thus, when nobody bought at that price, they lowered it until someone bought it, which ultimately set the market price.

Nowadays the opposite is taking place: with every uneducated tool that buys a $200 EB cart that was sitting on Amazon for several years, it just drives up the prices and the demand. It's essentially a vicious cycle.

Its so bad I saw some hipster douche walk into a game store with his girlfriend saw a copy of harvest moon 64 "OMG look its that game I was tellin you about, ITS WORTH LIKE 150 BUCKS WOAH MEGA RARE" Since the market is flooded with retards like that they get to dictate the prices apparently, because they will pay 150 bucks for harvest moon 64 to impress their other "nerd" friends

>> No.1111716

>>1111629
True. Yeah it's mostly morons thinking if a game say "RARE" means it be $50 minimum. Hell I went to a flea market to see and someone had Super Mario World. Asked them how much and they said $30. I just laughed as loudly as I could and walked away. People were staring but I didn't really care.

Well some people might take that as a base cost in selling their games. Just look at all these fucking "Buy it now" and "Reserve price not met" There really no where safe to buy games. We just have to wait hoping for some crash like comics did in the 90's.

Supply and Demand. It may not be a rare game, but the demand for it is much higher than the supply and people who have the game don't want to give them up unless they can make some money off of it. It's the exact same reason why Final Fantasy 7 is so expensive even though there's over 10 million units sold of the game.

Correct. This is arguably WayForward's most well made game on a technical perspective, which is odd since their later games are hardly more advanced. Each new game has gameplay not much more advanced than your typical NES or SNES game.

Shantae is a very basic game, but it's also well made. Who know what other game is very basic and boring, but pretty well made? BioMetal for the SNES. It holds the distinction of being one of the few SNES shooters to give Genesis and TG-16 shooters a run for their money in terms of action and pacing, but god does it look boring.

Is that necessarily a bad thing? I mean, Risky's Revenge is good precisely because it's not a lame modern "bro gamer" reboot like Castlevania Lords of Shadow, or Metal Gear Solid Rising Revengeanence.

And yet, I got it a year after release for 30 dollars. The market really needs proper regulation.

Wild Guns is my great white buffalo. I passed on it when it was 60 dollars as too expensive, it's now going for 3-4 times that for scuffed carts.

Just get an SD2SNES. For $200 you can play just about every SNES game worth playing except for Starfox, Super Mario World 2, Super Mario RPG, and the Kirby games on actual hardware. I've been having a blast playing Seiken Densetsu 3 translated with a 3 player hack.
