PHEW! IT MADE IT TO THE CUT!

Anyway, I just wanted to make a thread for this game right here. One of my all-time faves and my first Playstation One game. Anybody played this game too? I'll be posting some stuff related to the game to get things going.

So yeah, Apocalypse thread

>> No.1100217

It was a decent game.

Bump with content

Here's some footage of the unreleased version of the game that probably everyone knows at this point

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILG2LSPk344

The game originally was supposed to include Bruce Willis as your sidekick and one-line spouter, while you took control of a prisoner (the dude in blue uniform), but then they scratched the idea and went for Bruce as the protagonist.

It's more gorier at some parts, and the level design was more crude; the enemy variety was totally superior compared to the final release, since there's soldiers with shields, something that I can't remember fighting in the game.

The graveyard level is cruder and more linear compared to the final release, and hey, I like that gray mini-boss thingy. I wonder if his textures are still inside the CD

>> No.1101934

I remember liking it, but it getting a lot of flak back in the day.

I loved the game. Graphics were awesome, the game had a fairly simplistic but fun gameplay.

Also, it was quite funny to hear Bruce Willis spouting one liners. I remind back then trying to look for the movie, because I thought that the game was a tie-in.

>> No.1102000

>>1100204
It's a console game, so the only thing that matters to the cutoff is the console it's on. Playstation one is before the cutoff date and not a sixth gen or later system, so any PS1 game can be discussed, even post-1998 ones.

I liked that game a lot when I was younger. I remember it had one liners, fun gameplay and a good soundtrack and it introduced me to the singer Poe.

I give up, man. I really tried to get it to work but nothing.

So there's a file in the disc called APOC.XA, which contains nearly every single audio from the game (not only Bruce's one-liners, but the whole speeches, the enemy soldiers and the Four Horsemen phrases included)

I scanned the file using PSound, which can read/scan XA files and any other file trying to find any audio that could be identified as such. But only half of it is audibly recognizable. The other half is heavily distorted and even if I pitch it down to match the same velocity of the sounds in-game, it still sounds distorted as fuck. Trust me, I compared the EU and US releases, and they all have the same problems

(It bugs me like you have no idea because a couple of years ago I went to rip Bruce Willis' one liners, looking forward to make a voicepack for UT2004 - I still have the files with me - and one of the phrases that I managed to rip is located at the unreadable side of the XA file; how the fuck I managed to get that line? I can't even remember.)

So, in the meantime I converted the game music directly from the PSF rip of the game

https://mega.co.nz/#!LVEmzZ4Z!LQobdzHOOBllFlQpdg3kozJsFeJN88muduNuvGfn5WI

These are .WAV, unlooped files. If you guys want it, I can loop 'em enough times and upload 'em to Youtube to my channel. Also if you guys want 'em in another format (i.e. .FLAC, 320kb MP3s) let me know. I'm at your service.

I'll try to zip whatever I can get from the readable half of the .XA file and upload it here. Please forgive me for this mess, and in the meantime, enjoy the stage music.

Please take a moment to realize that there's some phrases in this zip file that you never get to listen when you're playing the game. There's a good bunch of 'em so you may want to give a listen to the whole Trey Kincaid folder

And speaking of which, I included some sounds that I had before reading the XA file again for this thread's purpose. Quoting myself, the first half of the XA file is completely recognizable, while the other half is distorted as hell. There's 10 files which are numered diferently, which are located on the unreadable half of the XA file, and I took the time to include them along with the other ones I ripped

What this folder contains, soundclips of

>Trey Kincaid (Bruce Willis)
>The enemy soldiers from the first area and the city
>Death
>Plague (Poe)
>War
>Beast

Have fun with those and feel free to use them as you wish

I've been replaying the game since I posted the zip and I've been saving some speeches that weren't in the clean side of the XA file. I completely muted the music and the sound effects, and that's how I've been collecting the rest of the stuff

Thing is... I used a faulty emulator to play my CD of it, and that's how I got it.
The problem was that the emulator wouldn't load levels properly, so you'd fall through the floor as if there was nothing there.

It was in the Prison Level. I used the checkpoint cheat code and by some chance, the sound played as I fell into the abyss.

all this time there was meant to be a second guy in the cell with kincaid at the start of the game. I always did wonder how kincaid zapped the other criminal from behind if he was meant to be in front. So they couldn't even be bothered to alter the intro. Fun game though- shame about the ending, i wonder if something was cut for that?
