This topic could also extend to the sound effects, but what games are so retardedly loud and obnoxious that you feel you MUST lower the volume or mod it out entirely. Pic related.

Almost the entire soundtrack sucked, sorry megamanfags

Most GB(A) games. And not because fast-forward can be appealing in some games but because they almost always sound like shit.

GB/GBC games tend to have a decent, crisp, chiptune soundtrack. GBA sounds like it's trying desperately to be an SNES and failing miserably.

I always had my sound system running from my mixing board, I usually turned game music off but left SFX on and would play music from my computer or a CD player.

I shut the sfx off for a lot of arcade games. I don’t need to hear “beepa beepa beepa beepa beepa” for an hour on end.

Yeah any port with a 'new' 'ambient' soundtrack fucking sucks. PS1 Doom comes to mind

There was a music track in Forsaken 64 that was so obnoxiously loud to the point it drowned out all the sound effects.

Maybe if you're a 90s teenager who watches Beavis & Butthead in his underwear while munching on Cheetos. But for any MATURE ADULT, Quake 2's soundtrack is abrasive, obnoxious, and juvenile. That's one thing Aubrey Hodges, again, vastly improved upon in the N64 version.

Hodges is the patrician's choice. Soýs love their epic and heckin badass metal riff midis and often get filtered by Doom 64's lack of them. I like them too, but the difference in tone is what makes the Hodges ports even more fun.

Based chad. What I like about Hodges' soundtrack is that not only is it well-composed and original, but it was approached without a hint of irony, unlike the DOS version's soundtrack. As good as Doom is from a gameplay standpoint, the team at id Software approached it as young 90s American boys would. With a lack of class. Hodges meanwhile approached Doom as a genuine, unironic work of horror, and gave it a soundtrack with SOUL.
