It's common, when anything is successful, in any kind of industry... it'll get copied, especially at a time where hype is high, this was the case for all of the major Nintendo franchises, it happened to Sonic in the early 90's, and it also happened with Crash Bandicoot ever since his OG title came out in 1996... though, for some reason, this corridor style of 3D platformer never really took off like the Collect-A-Thon did after Super Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie made it big... why is that? Well, we did get a few Crash Bandicoot inspired titles on the PS1 at least, though after the early 2000 it's sort of, well... dead, even Crash died for a while.

I've always loved Disney growing up, mainly the Donald Duck stuff since his anger issues made it a little less embarassing for me, as an angry kid, to cope with my own anger issues... and the PS1 version of Goin' Quacker/Quack Attack feels like a genuinely good Crash styled platformer, not as good as Crash really, but with a ton going for it, I especially like how you could unlock costumes in this for Donald to use. I also got a kick out of the Lilo & Stitch title on PS1, especially playing with Stitch since he felt a lot like Crash anyways... and I also liked the PS1 Scooby-Doo despite knowing it's pretty mediocre all things considered, I like it.

>What 3D corridor platformers did you play?
>Are there any that are worth playing to you?
>Did any of them actually surpass Crash at all?
>Why did this style never really catch on much?

Picrel is kind of like Crash, in that it's a linear "hall-based" 3D platformer

Never played it, but M&M's shell shocked is the first Crash clone that comes to my mind.

Played a lot of Quack Attack as a kid and loved it, didn't realise it at the time but it's totally a Crash clone, I agree.

Best Crash clone is Sly Cooper 1.

I knew that pretty much every version had a few differences, but I'm not aware of what those are exactly, is the PS2 version better overall or just a bit different? How does it differ from the PS1?

When I played it recently I really did think "wow, this is actually just the real Crash 4". Glad they went other places with 2 though.

I've never played it myself but Super Magnetic Neo for the Dreamcast always looked interesting. Quake Attack is fun.

>As if copying the entire Crash formula wasn't enough, THQ even copied Road to Nowhere in one of the levels on Scooby-Doo with a bridge.

Shameless.

I played the PC one where the second stage of each world is a math-centric stage.
Also, there was no Aku-Aku-esque system, so you always had only one hit.
