How about a retro MMO thread. What games did you play, are you still playing, games you wanted to try, stories, etc.

>play everquest
>no idea what i'm doing
>just want to explore
>hop on huge transport ship to another continent
>sit on floor of boat
>clip through
>stranded in the middle of the ocean
>no way to tell where the fuck i am
>whine to gm
>ignored
>never play again

I always wanted to play MMOs by myself. Honestly I don't really give a shit if they're giant generic grind-centric pointless RPGs. In fact, that's KINDA my bag.

You could try project 1999 its a free Everquest private server with the aim of providing an authentic experience of the game at that time

Just recently quit EQ after playing for over 12 years. My guild finally imploded after a painful period of stagnation. There's no other guild I could see myself being in, so I threw in the towel.

I played EQ when it came out and absolutely fucking hated it.

i played project 1999 for five hours and i was thoroughly disgusted by every aspect of it

what a sad and horrendous game

Most retro (1999 and older) MMOs are technically MUDs, and I did play those. I can't think of any older "true" graphical MMOs I played though.
