Your /vr/ confessions. Here's mine:

I think most Zelda games are boring and convoluted.

I have lost many games that are worth a fortune to friends borrowing them but I always got back the ones that are worth shit.

Why do people think Super Mario Bros 3 is btr than Super Mario World?
I'm not being confrontational, I seriously want to know what people think is btr about that game. Because frankly I see SMW as the masterpiece, not SMB3.

SMW was far too easy. I loved both games however.

>> No.1093762

That's the first time I ever heard that. Lots of people consider SMW as the best Super Mario game. But in my opinion the best one is Super Mario Bros 1 because it started everything and it still enjoyable even today.

Quite frankly I don't even count SMB1 in the running because it's so original, so ground breaking, so amazing in every way, it's just...it's not fair to mention it. Everyone has played it. Everyone knows the glory of it. The best Nintendo could ever try to do was recapture the magic.

Honestly, I used to think that SMW was a better game but I played them both recently and had a change of heart.

SMW is huge but it feels like it has nowhere near the variety of SM3. Each world of SM3 is completely unique and themed, enough so to keep my interest even on long plays with no saves.

There are a ton of different items that you can end up getting and using, too, way more than just the mushroom, fireflower and feather. I like the addition of Yoshi in SMW, along with the different shell effects and coloured Yoshis, but most those aren't that different from one another, compared to all of the SM3 suits.

SMW was a lot easier as well, kinder to the player. It has some difficult stages but overall it's an easier game. I played them both when they came out as well, and SM3 blew my mind far more than SMW did.

tl;dr - both are great games but I like SM3 more because of variety + difficulty.

Is there a reason they went from a bunch of suits back to just a couple? I mean yeah the frog suit was kinda pants, unless you were underwater the entire stage, but it was neat to get it and as a kid I loved getting the "rarer" suits which only showed up later in the game.

But I never thought about SMW having less suits until now.

I have a confession to make.

Back in the SMB3 days I used to play the game with my sister all the time. The other hobby we shared was roller skating. A song that used to play a lot at the roller rink was "Heaven is a Place on Earth" by Belinda Carlisle.

Anyway, I can't remember who came up with this (I think it was my sister), but we sang this song to the tune of that Belinda Carlisle song (ooh baby do you know what that's worth? / ooh heaven is a place on earth / they say in heaven, love comes first / we'll make heaven a place on earth):

Boo Diddley really hates this song
Even though he always sings along
Boo Diddley, Diddley high Diddley low
Boo Diddley really is too slow

wow, this is almost too embarrassing to even post anonymously.

Even with the Nintendo Power hype train and the promotional VHS tape they sent me, I still didn't see the big deal. I found the pre-rendered graphics kind of ugly and the whole thing kind of in your face.

The game play is okay, though I find it feels sluggish. That's just my opinion, though.

>I was playing Super Metroid for months and even with the help of walkthroughs I haven't finished it yet.
Fault goes to the lack of viewing maps of other areas and the annoyingly tricky advanced moves like the wall jump (it took me an eternity to somehow manage to use it). No wonder I prefer Metroid Zero Mission and Metroid Fusion (the only Metroid games I have finished till now, I haven't played Metroid Prime Trilogy yet): because the controls are perfect and you can see the maps of areas you have already visited instead of only the area you currently are.

I also hate the fanbase which hail Super Metroid as the best Metroid game and make negative comments for Zero Mission and Fusion just because they are easier. Zelda II is also the most difficult Zelda game but doesn't makes it the best Zelda game even as a joke.

I use savestates at the start of stages and before bosses.

Playing the same stages over and over until you memorize them is not fun, to me. I don't even care if I don't get SICK /vr/ REP for not being a masochist. I play for fun, not to work. If I wanted to work, I'd do something I'd get fucking paid for.

I abuse the shit out of save states when I play n64 games.

I grew up with 2d games (in my 30s now) and I never completely got the hang of 3d. So even though I love Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, and stuff like that, I still can't jump for shit, even in the Zelda games when they jump for you. I have trouble getting my character lined up enough to make jumps that other people don't even flinch at. So I save before a jump, and if there's multiple platforms I save at every one. hey me too.

I like in a game when I feel a sense of accomplishment after helping someone. You know, like say that freezing Goron that wants some food, or the old lady with the bomb bag that gets mugged at midnight.

Majora's Mask, however, thwarted this. By the time you accomplish a few things, help a few people, it's the Final Day, oh shit! Now I gotta play the song of time and go back the first day! Meaning nothing you did ever happened.

I know, you keep your items and masks and all that, but damn, I felt kinda bad for all the suffering npcs that would just go on suffering because I had a new task to accomplish.

Also, in this more than any other Zelda game, the lengths you must go to for pieces of heart are ridiculous.
