The retroarch cores work fine in my experience, kronos and beetle software.
Watch someone who cares a lot about the Saturn now reply and tell me how shitty these emulators are compared to the real console. Yes, I also own an actual Saturn, I'm not plugging that shit in unless I want to play a light gun game.

There was a genuine period where the Saturn was an underrated and even still obscure console in the retro community. A lot of posters here still pretend it's the early AVGN days, but I think an overcorrection has happened since then.

its a console not as many people had or had a chance to play back even when it was new and relevant, and a lot of the games look pretty unique and aged in an interesting way. almost everyone has played or had a ps1/n64 at some point.

MedGUIReborn is often recommended on places like Reddit and the Emulation Wiki for some fucking reason ("Mednaffe hasn't gotten le updoot in a few months which means IT'S DEAD UNUSABLE NOW GUYS PLZ USE MY JANKY PIECE OF SHIT SPAGHETTI CODE FRONTEND INSTEAD!!!!" -whoever edits the frontends page on the wiki) but it's garbage, don't use it.

Ordered a $50 Saroo for my Saturn with a broken disc drive I picked up for $70. What games should I hit up first? I'm excited to play Panzer Dragoon games but would like to dive deep into the library. I can read enough Japanese to uncomfortably stumble my way through games like Soul Hackers.

I think the main statement encapsulates the CRT crowd, they really can't stop talking about them. and at this point why? an OLED has the color saturation and the refresh rate of a CRT, and scalers have scan lines and a cleaner better upscaled resolution. crts have mythical qualities at this point.

any newer TV i've tried with older consoles has looked pretty bad compared to crt. i've seen people use retrotink which did look really good with new tv's though, particularly the retrotink 5x.

True. CRTs have magical properties you simply cant replicate with flat panels. An imitation can never perfectly replicate the original.
