I have been having problems trying to play TurboCD/PCEngineCD games on any Turbo emulator (I use PCejin and Retroarch. No matter what, I can only load the cue file, and nothing else.

Also general Turbo/PCEngine thread.

you could try mounting the bin/cue to a virtual drive and attempt to run the resulting "disk" that results from it.

i don't use emulators but that sounds like it could work anyway

>i don't use emulators
Why not? It's pretty easy for most platforms, and emulation sure is much more versatile AND accessible than running software on actual hardware.

i used to use emulators around ten years ago but i really like original hardware.

Have you tried ootake?

>> No.1091002

Tried it, takes atleast ten years to respond after clicking hu-card or cd.

That's odd. Could be a language/system locale issue maybe?

Some weird reason, my system is stuck on jap.

Then I put it back in english and the backslashes are replaced with yen symbols and I still have jap text when I right click on desktop

Running it on PCEP. Id's bretty gud.

>> No.1091137

OP here, I have changed unicode back to english, ootake works with hucard but does nothing but freeze for CD ROM.

>> No.1091136

It works fine with Rondo of Blood for me

You need syscard3.pce PCE-CD BIOS in your system folder for CD games to work

Which emulator are you talking about ootake or PCejin

Retroarch with Mednafen-PCE-Fast

In most cases, original hardware is vastly inferior.

Then the cue file is bad. Open it up in a text editor and make sure it correctly points to the bin file.

>> No.1091217

>>1091207
The cue file points at the iso file. It doesn't go to bin.

>> No.1091221

>>1091217

iso and bin are the same thing, both are binary rips of discs

The cue sheet tells the emulator where the audio tracks are

The filename in the cue needs to exactly match the filename of the iso or else it won't work.

>> No.1091257

>>1091221
For example, if it is L-DIS_(NTSC-J)_[NSCD0005].ISO, the cue file should be the same name, which it is. The problem is that the emulator loads the cue file, but I get a blank screen.

And this is using pcejin, freezes on ootake and does nothing on retroarch. Damn, every time I want to do something, it always goes wrong.

>TurboGrafx/PCEngine/TurboGrafxCD/PCEngineCD/Turbo Duo

Just call it "PC Engine". That's what everyone does. Hardly anyone even remembers the "Turbografx". Plus that name is balls retarded.

Indeed it is. It's not even about being an weeaboo, it's just the most commonly-used name around.

you would be surprised just how off an emulated game is compared to the original.

the most popular games usually run the best as people programming their emulators tend to test with them but if you dig enough you might even find games that will not run at all or with minor problems you might not notice like textures being off or audio not sounding right.

emulation is far from perfect but it is getting pretty respectable to play on.

i would look into adaptors for various game controllers so you can use the original controller when emulating as that is one of the most important physical aspects of a console.

take tg16/pce games for example: most games factor in variable turbo switches and have different effects for each level of turbo, it might be a bit awkward to config your wired xbox controller or whatever you use to add the various turbo levels.

Try Turbo Engine then. Trust me, it works fantastically: http://aamirm.hacking-cult.org/www/turbo.html

There are no important physical aspects. Any modern controller will do for any standard retro console. One should focus on the game and not the bells and whistles if gaming's what he's interested in and not the superficial.

Got Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari (River City Ransom) working earlier on RetroArch. Looks and sounds very nice, and the save support is great as well. Only downside is it's in Japanese, but I'm sure I can trudge through.

Sharp and PCE versions have the best graphics. The GBA remake is just hideous.

>> No.1098690

>>1095434
modern controllers usually have quite shitty d-pads as they have been second fiddle to analog sticks for over a decade now.

i gave some thought to the turbo switch issue the low turbo isn't used too often for variable mechanics unlike full turbo so if say on a xbox controller you could probably program x and y to function as turbo versions of I and II or whatever config works for you if the emulator supports it.

There's been a translation project for it. I think it's done. Page 15 bump.
