Probably never.
>wasn't in the Nintendo hack
>no evidence that it was ever sent out to retailers or gaming press
>probably not sent to overseas Nintendo offices for previews or localization (US and Euro employees are most likely to sell this kind of thing)
>no chance of Nintendo or HAL going out of business
Basically you just have to hope that some NoJ or HAL employee held on to a copy and decides to sell it. And even if they did, Twitterfags and gaming """journalists"""' can't keep their fucking mouths shut and would make sure to draw public attention to the auction, guaranteeing it would get shut down by Nintendo.

It's very likely that all of the files used to make this game were scrapped entirely when the project switched production to GBA. This all happened when Miyamoto flipped the proverbial tea table on them. Anything that remains of this game are probably still in the files related to the official Japanese release for that system.

I would be amazed if we can even get that far. At most, I'm expecting a situation like D No Shokutaku 2 on the Panasonic M2, where at most the only surviving files are just the model and animation loop.
Even if we do somehow get that far, would most available emulators even be able to run the game if its just the 64DD version being salvaged?

This is definitely untrue, we can not only see gameplay but by comparing what we have with GBA Mother 3 we can see they were pretty far into the game's development. If this was true, we'd only have either early game stuff or things we don't recognize at all

I can't see that happening compared to RE1.5 unfortunately. In the case of Earthbound 64/Mother 3, it seems like the only known copies are available to industry studios like Brownie Brown or HAL. And its doubtful that anyone will be able to just snatch the copy.

The game had a playable demo at Spaceworld 1999. And one of the playtesters for Mother 3 (GBA) confirmed that 1up Studio (the guys who made Mother 3) had a copy of the last finished build in their office to use as reference material. It supposed only went through most of the first chapter and was pretty similar to the GBA game's prologue.

It depends. They probably sent progress checks to Nintendo. Hell, in-development prototypes of Super Castlevania IV and Street Fighter II SNES were found in that hack, and Konami and Capcom were just third party devs.

I know exploring prerelease builds is fun, but it's not like there's a secret full game on them. They're buggy, everything in them is designed for testing and preview purposes, that's it really, you'll get something that contains a few unconnected sections of a game and a lot of dead ends.

i don't really think anything beyond that demo really exists to be honest or at the very least nothing finished like some people seem to assume while the demo itself could likely be either deleted/overwritten/lost or just wasn't included in what was in the leak itself.

if it's actually being hoarded then i feel like someone would've inevitably talked/leaked it already as the people who usually hoard these kinds of things do it for attention or some sort monetary gain. neither of which you're going to get if nobody knows you're hoarding in the first place.
