Just popping in to tell everyone of a few updates/mistakes I had made with the torrent.

There were many now outdated sourceports included in the torrent, such as Zandronum, GZDoom, EDuke32, WinRottGL, ECWolf (may be even more).

I included an outdated version of the the DaggerfallSetup.exe file.
I am not sure of the content, but there is a massive size difference.

I had forgotten to include BMouse for Blood (improves mouselook significantly), and Doom's Master Levels.

EDuke32 can run another build game titled "NAM", and perhaps even "WWII GI".
You may want need to rename files for it to work.

If anyone else wants to add to the list, go ahead.

I am currently going through the /vr/ archive to scrounge up and compile titles for the games that were meant for the update (I haven't decided yet if I would rework on it, but maybe someone else would).
Keep in mind, I included game titles up to 1999 because I haven't investigated whether or not they are 2.5d or not. Nothing is or was, rock solid.

Basically a kid was making an internet post about how depressed he was, and Mark's reaction was to tell him to kill himself. Meh, whatever, "kill yourself" posts are nothing new.
Then spend the next few posts elaborating on it, suggesting a method and a few steps, as well as how to acquire materials for it. The mods balked at this.

I don't know about anyone else but revenants are the "oh shit" monster that players have to learn to deal with if they step up to hard wads like Hell Revealed, Alien Vendetta, etc. Arch-viles are rarely used in packs, and I think revenants also have appeal because new players struggle with them but experienced players learn how to dodge and dispatch them quickly.

tl;dr hordes of revenants are pretty much a hallmark of tough Doom wads

Because revenants are total dicks with very unpredictable damage. At least you know that an Archvile will do 80 damage every time his attack works (unless you use that trick in PRO DOOM MONSTER STRATS to reduce it to 20). A revenant fireball can do anywhere from 10 to 80 damage.

Alright, stupid question, but did anyone else play some Doom ][ total conversions back in the day by the name of Ultimate Doom 2 or Ultimate Doom 2X? Maybe Ultimate Doom 2 Gold?

Whoever made them basically took everything up a notch. All the enemies had much more health, the pistol was turned into a shotgun, the shotgun into a rapid-fire shotgun and the chaingun spit out shotgun shots at a truly ridiculous pace. Like you could push a cacodemon across a huge room in 2 seconds. Also all the imps were replaced with a samey-looking 'ial.'

If anyone knows any modern sourceports that might still support these old TC's, I'd be super happy to know it. But most likely these addons are just gonna fade into the ether.

Lets try a thought experiment: you are something like the arena at the end of E3M9. you have 200/200 health/armour, a super shotgun, a rocket launcher and a plasma gun and "enough" ammo (although not enough just to use one weapon) to kill one of the following groups:

- 10 cyberdemons
- 10 archviles
- 25 pain elementals
- 50 revenants

which of these four would you rather face? you have quite a large arena to run around in and a sizable number of pillars to hide behind.

for the record I think i'd be least likely to die to the revenants, the pain elementals i would inevitably lose all my health from shooting a rocket at the wrong time with a lost soul in my face, the cyberdemons would be harder, and the archviles even with all those pillars i'd probably not be able to keep in cover without getting blown up.

Walking is the most difficult part of the skin because it's hard to get all the subtle differences of walking between four frames plus all the rotations. Most of the other frames are pretty easy to do by comparison (1 frame pain, 2 frame fire) and death/gib animations don't really need rotations so they can be even easier.

Can someone explain to me why some of Realm667's texture wads don't seem to load properly? Specifically speaking of these two:
When I have them loaded in, there's a little tab in the texture selection menu for them, but it's completely empty. I think a couple of the DrDoctor textures somehow wound up in the Doom 2 tab, but I'm not entirely sure. Also, the tab that appears for the "Doom 1 in Doom 2" pack seems to have the entirety of Doom 2's textures mixed in with it.

Am I doing something really obviously stupid here? Using Doombuilder, obviously.

I got a lot of things fixed using aseprite yesterday and I feel this one is ready. Sadly the other angles are going to have to wait until Tuesday due to studying for tests. They won't take nearly as long or need as many revisions now that I have a technique in place. Before I was using photoshop, assuming where pixels should go, then making a gif and seeing what needs fixing. Now I use aseprite and just rapidly switch between frames for real time changes. So much better and faster.

It will. Just testing a look before I animate.
It's only gonna contain the Imperium (guard, space marines, civilians) and Orks for the first game, but there's a lot of graphics thats need to be done. Thanks to 3D floors I can create 40k scenery which couldn't be done before.

I'm doing this in DOOM since I'm not a professional, and its easier to access, and it can also hold thousands of enemies which other sources cannot without super computers.

If I get more progress done and hopes are looking good (doubtfully) I could use any assistance in the project

The legs look great imo. I might keep the head angled the same direction. And instead of having the arms move in one up/down loop per 4 frames I'd do it in 2 frames to match the legs.

Pic related. Those frames are the important ones in a 4 frame animation. I'd drop her arms when she's up on one leg, and raise it when her legs are spread apart. Right now it sorta looks like she's limping.

The torso should twist just a bit into whichever leg is forward, but since you have so few pixels to work with and she's holding a gun I'd just kinda fudge it a bit if I were you.

Just suggestions. Overall looks quite good man.

Alright I'm Italian and I'll say this. The whole thing is basically an uber-crude riff on trash TV with a shitload of violence that plays like Brutal Doom. Honestly I think it might be better if you don't know any of it as the whole thing will come off as insane random bullshit, because otherwise it just gets kinda old.

I'm still here too. I'm making my very first level. Maybe I should change my trip to mappingnoob now that I'm not so noob with sprites anymore? Nah. I made a basic room with a falling platform triggered by a switch, which also drops a trap door letting out a baron. Made a basic door too and a level exit switch. Not bad for my first attempt! Gonna finish more spriting later today, but I'm just goofing around with this for when I start making levels for my wad.

Oh yeah... I wanted to come up with a list of mapping rules to (generally) follow, and kinda forgot to write them down anywhere. (sage for bumping a lot)... Maybe I'll do that sometime.

It was things like:
No unavoidable deaths (trial and error shit)
Use ground breakups - Keep the floors from being too level, or singularly textured. Light is also good for this.
Properly panned textures.
Don't make every key/powerup a trap

That it doesn't use the Doom engine might really hurt the chances. Take the rocket launcher for example. That thing in SNES Doom is flat out POWERFUL, but the damage it deals is unpredictable. On occasion, I got it to kill 3 Cacodemons in one shot and a once a Baron of Hell in 2 shots. And there's a whole bunch of other crazies.
