Very possibly. I can't think of anything that comes close.

>> No.10858078

It's easily the best game on the system, like you said nothing comes close. There's stuff like Shantae, and most GBC RPGs are good to great but that's about it. It just looks and plays so good, damn.

>> No.10858080

I am a huge Metal Gear fan who likes the first two games and Ghost Babel isn't THAT good. GBC exclusive library is sort of lame in general, its best game is Link's Awakening DX which isn't really even a GBC game

>> No.10858086

>>10858080
Regarding the limitations of the system it is no doubt one of the best games on the GBC - Amazing visuals, an actual story and great gameplay. Most games on the GBC only have two or one of those qualities, if that. It's the only one that has all 3 I'd wager.

Well, DQ1-3 if you are into RPGs and consider turn-based gameplay to be good lmao. Other than that, Ghost Babel probably IS the best but again, I personally wasn't blown away by it for some reason. I think if I played it on a real GBC I'd be more impressed

Yeah, that's why I'm asking. I like turn-based stuff and Pokemon Crystal is probably up there for me but it's like - is turn-based combat really worthy of a 10/10 lol (and I love RPGS)?
>>10858092
I played this and thought the animations were awesome. Unfortunately the fan translation is pretty poor and it requires playing a 40hr prequel to truly get the best out of I feel.

The overly heavy reliance on railroading the player through an incredibly inflexible series of event triggers while also allowing the player so much freedom to explore. Players can miss those triggers and get stuck because they figured out where the game was leading them too soon and jumped ahead of the sequence without realizing it. This is especially a problem in Ages.

Too many dungeon rooms are bigger than one screen and do real-time scrolling which can make understanding the space you're exploring unnecessarily difficult.

Gacha mechanics are a lazy way to pad out play time.

I never got stuck for hours in OoT because I figured out where I needed to go next and went there without talking to an NPC a second time. That DID happen in Ages.
>explore everything early on and talk to every NPC
>visit Cheval's house in the present and know there's nothing to find there
>visit Cheval in the past and he talks about some inventions he's working on
>one of those places (I forget which) mentions Cheval intends to be buried with his inventions
>make a mental note of that
>get to the part of the game where I need flippers and special rope
>remember that Cheval was working on those inventions and that he was going to be buried with them
>go straight to the graveyard
>can't get over all the pits to Cheval's grave
>I already know that's where I need to go so I keep trying to figure out how to get there
>stuck for hours until I look up the solution
The solution was talking to Cheval in the past and then visiting his house in the present ONLY AFTER THE GAME TELLS YOU THE FLIPPERS ARE NEEDED, at which point Richard appears in a triggered event and tells you to go to the graveyard. THEN when you visit the graveyard you'll find Moosh being attacked so you can save him and use him to get to Cheval's grave. The game literally punished me for exploring early and figuring out the next step. I never would have thought to visit Cheval and his house again because I already did that and already KNEW his inventions were buried with him, but the game needed me to trigger those sequences before I could proceed. That kind of thing does NOT happen in OoT.

I had this for the GBC. The single player campaign is alright, it's great for an 8bit game boy game rendition of Metal Gear Solid. But for me, the VR missions were the things that I played the most. really, one of the best 'handheld' features.
