is there such a thing as a cheap gamepad with a good d-pad (ie. not the 360's shitty d-pad)?

what would you recommend for someone who wants the standard four shoulder buttons, two analog sticks, a good d-pad, etc. setup?

dual shock 2.

Okay, now recommend what OP asked for, but can plug right into a USB port without an adapter.

A PS3 pad or a generic version thereof. I've seen 3rd party 360 controllers with proper cross-style D-pads, too, if stick asymmetry and concave shoulder buttons are important to you. You can get the Gamestop brand ones for like $10-$15, and they work fine.

Wii Classic Controller Pro + Mayflash Wii to USB Adapter

I got both for about 20 dollars, and I would have to say it was well worth it.

the PS3 controller is more expensive than i'd like. as a last resort i would get one though.

>>1084980
a generic version of dualshock or the 360 controller with a good d-pad would be good.

So it is now possible to use that controller with PC? Thats awesome. It looks really good. I may get one later.

Wait, I thought you meant the Wii U one. Either way, the Wii classic controller is good too.

Both are usb, personally own the Snakebyte and it works fine in windows. It was available at Wal-Mart in my area for about 12$ last I checked.

Should note that it works fine in the emulators I've tried with, not so much with Steam games.
